Deluxe Paint ART/IMAGES?
Apologies admin if this thread is in the wrong location (feel free to relocate).
Was wondering if anyone knew of any sites that have (or indeed anyone willing to upload) a collection of DPaint images, rather than buy those various coverdisks with infamous 'pic of the month' from yesteryear... oh boy, did I enjoy those sad I know! In addition, what EXACTLY was the file extension for a DPaint image? for example, with modern images JPEG, BMAP, PNG etc. |

Have a look at this these links here http://eab.abime.net/showpost.php?p=634831&postcount=2
Not sure if they were done in DPaint but for that time I would imagine many were. Although most have been converted to a more user friendly format for use with our peecee's. File extension = .IFF (I think) Last edited by DH; 09 February 2010 at 22:05. |

I just uploaded a compilation of every single sample image from the DPaint 1.0 and DPaint 5.2 disks (oldest an newest available) That's 21 total. Get it here or try the contact sheet first.
All the images remain unmodified with there original names and extensions (.LORES and .HAM, though not all of them have extensions) The common format is Amiga Interchange Format IFF/ILBM |

There's also a "Pixel Pushers H.Q" social group here on EAB with a selection of DPaint artwork produced by members.

Amiga system does not rely on "file extensions" to recognize files, so DPaint had no attached file extension.
The file format was IFF so you could use that as an extension if you so wish. |

Good resources, I'll have to check them out..
One image I remember from back in the day was an Escher waterfall image, but the neat thing was that they had color cycling, so the water appeared to be flowing (impossibly uphill of course). Wouldn't mind finding that one again... My google-fu (weak as it is) has thus far failed me... desiv |

Amiga doesnt use file extensions to recognize filetype (with few exceptions like .info), and Dpaint pictures are IFF-ILBM. If you need to transfer file to a dumb platform (like a PC), you need to add an extension, though. Usually windows image displayers accept .LBM for Amiga IFF-ILBMs.

interesting that some of the images were EGA PC Stuff ?
or are they ported to the PC/EGA ? here is my original and converted EGA-stuff. https://www.flickr.com/photos/948392...57652364100484 I'am always collecting nice "low color" pixel art. Would be nice if we collect all the fine old paint stuff. |
