Topaz 9e, what does the e stand for?

Hi, I'm in the process of trying to adapt the Topaz font from WB1.3 for my windows. While working on 9e I started wondering; what does the e actually stand for? Anybody know?

Thanks.

Is that some unofficial/3rd party font? I don't remember seeing that kind of "e" myself ever...

Commodore Amiga 2.x (1991):
..
- Alternate Topaz/9e – 10×9 (2 for descender) – modified some glyphs like ‘g’ and available from Preferences as Text 60
..

(probably e as enhanced)

No, it is the 9 point for inside 1.3 kickstart. There is topaz 8 and 9e in kickstart and topaz 11 on Extras1.3 disk.

That is for the 2.x, but 9e was already there before that, so this could not be the reason for the name.

Maybe it was the revision or 'edited'?

Is the Topaz name a reference to the B-52s song?

Probably not, the B52s stuff was from West Chester based engineers where the OS + topaz.font was invented in Los Gatos..

The e in 9e probably indicates the FSB_EXTENDED style bit, which means "extended face (wider than normal)".

That sounds plausible. Thanks, now maybe I can focus on the font instead of wondering about it's name
