Sound samples sound pitched down when imported to Amos

Ok this isn't technically code but it is to do with Amos.

I have the main Double Dragon sound effects ripped from the arcade game and so I converted them into an iff sound file using Goldwave and set the sample rate at 22000Hz as I think the max the Amiga can handle is 28000Hz or something.

Playback in Goldwave as an iff is fine, but when I import the sound effect to Amos they appear to be pitched shifted down quite a lot and Amos won't let me pitch up past 32000Hz.

Am I forgetting to do something?

Only an ECS Amiga can play such high rate samples. AMOS was coded for OCS mostly so that feature is likely unsupported.

Try a lower sampling rate.

Thanks for the reply.

Ok I tried it at 16000Hz and when I sample up within Amos it sounds a bit closer to how it should. However, the sample itself seems to have been cut off about halfway through in the Amos sampler when I import it.

EDIT: I exported it at 8000Hz and I can now pitch it up to near perfect level, but it's still only loading the first half of the sample.

Is the sample longer than 128k?

They might be. I'll admit it's not something I was aware of. I did find a workaround in that I imported the iffs to Protracker, upsampled and then saved before importing into Amos where the whole sample was available. There was a big pop which appeared at the start of the samples after saving in the bank, but some trimming saw to that and they were good to go.

Amos is a funny little program sometimes, but I still love it.

Anyway, thanks for the info. I'll add it to my ever growing book of "things to check".

I don't know where I'd be without you guys on the forum, so thanks again.
