I haven't looked at this yet so I have no idea what modes (or whatever) there are to play...

How about the mods get the selection of eight tracks. This will be interesting as the top row of tracks are very easy, the middle are only slightly harder, and the only challenging courses are the last half of the bottom row. So someone gets to play carol vordermans countdown and get creative with their choices.

As for the riders, I dont see there being a problem with leaving that open to the player. If they want to choose the rider with the highest top speed and therefore lead the others then fine. Otherwise it adds randomness to the mix from the players side.

Thats just my view.
The game depends on the tracks chosen.

Had a look at the game and it seems you can't set records in training mode, only season.. which is a shame.
However when you finish a run in training mode it does display a total race time.. (see screen)
I guess lowest overall time is the only way to go?
Would have been nice if the scores saved though.

@ who - true, I like your idea. But also each lap time should appear in large orange letters on screen after each lap. (see below).

Also Graham
NO OPPONENTS would make most sense, as there are already lots of other bikers on track in all of the modes (see screenshot, No opponents mode above still has bikers).

oh, you may find the game runs too fast on your 040 Graham, an 030 setup is perfect for this one.

To make things simple I think we'll take the first seven tracks (the top row) in practice mode. Is there a way of pausing the game to get a photo of your time? Remember us proper Amiga users (not me though, it keeps crashing again, hopefully I can fix this).

So... lowest overall time across seven tracks (if you play less then you will be ranked lower in the leaderboards I guess). No opponents seems sensible. It is however hard to gauge the best way to play this without being able to sit down and play it properly.

Sounds good
You don't need to pause the game for total time, it's displayed at the end of 5 laps and waits for mouse input.

I had a feeling you'd go with that. Great choice.

Yes, press P at any point. The orange best lap times hangs around for maybe 3 or 4 seconds; so that gives plenty of time to pause and take their stills. I'm still thinking best lap times would be better over driving 5 laps clean (which is actually much harder) but I'll leave that up to you Graham. I'm up for any challenge.

True. But that wont be a problem for sure. Once everyone posts their 7 initial scores its just one track improvement at a time.

Really looking forward to this.

oops, didnt check the lemon thread. Whats the verdict???

Yup, me too. I spent the weekend playing Need For Speed: Shift with my dad. Great fun racing round all the tracks - Nordshleife (please excuse spelling), by Nurburgring, is awesome and very challenging at the same time

Yeah, I'm still a little confused. Are we aiming for the best lap over the 5 laps (on each of the top 7 tracks), or best time for all 5 laps?

I can't post any times until I know which it is...

Er, sorry, my mistake, that was as clear as mud. As is typical for these type of things I think we should take best lap times only. Just like we did for Stunt Car Racer.

Good to see that we're off and running now.

Unfortunately I can't seem to get our scoreboard to display the total score properly (it displays in seconds so I had to add that up separately but for some reasons it rounds it up to a whole number) but we will try and sort that out so bear with us

EDIT: Forget that, I think I was inputting it wrong So 745.90 seconds = 74590 points on the scoreboard I think!

You mean 475.9 seconds = 47,590 points (as it stands correctly on the leaderboard). Windows calculator agrees.

Meaning 7:55:90 is who's total time, not 7:57:10.

I spent a few hours on this today. I'm using Michelle (not like that!) with automatic gears - I simply can't use the mouse+manual gears right now
Here are my best times for the first 4 tracks (I'll do the others tomorrow, probably):

#1: Paul Ricard - 1:54.90 (114.90s)
#2: Chiswick - 0:56.60
#3: Nutford - 0:56.10
#4: Mallory Park - 0:43.00
#5: Waddesdon - ???
#6: Tetbury - ???
#7: Cadwell Park - ???

Total: ???

Those are very tight times there Who. Its gonna be difficult to match those. I see you used Michelle. I think she's the rider of champions and the only real choice. Are you using Manual gears too?

Agreed, she's definitely the best
I used miyuki for the first set of times and her top speed just isn't worth it.. even on tracks with long straights and minimal corners.
Sticking to auto gears & default sensitivity.
