How to install Wolfenstein 3-D?

Hello, can someone help me install Wolfenstein 3-D. I downloaded AWolf3D.lha from aminet. When I click the icon I get an error message saying "NO WOLFENSTEIN 3-D DATA FILES to be found".

What are these Wolfenstein 3-D data files and from where can I get them?

You need data files from PC version, it's easy to find it on abandonware sites. If I remember correctly some Amiga ports are only for shareware version.

You need WL6 files copied in the directory.

Also, try NovaCoders Wolf3d port here http://aminet.net/package/game/shoot/AmiWolf
Works well with 68030.

Ok, got those from here:
http://www.dosgamesarchive.com/file/wolf3d/

The zip contains the following files:
DEICE.EXE
FILE_ID.DIZ
INSTALL.BAT
VENDOR.DOC
WOLF.1
WOLF.DAT

I placed these files in the same folder where I have AWolf3D but I get the same error. INSTALL.BAT and DEICE.EXE do not work because I have Windows7.

These files are still compressed, deice can decompress and install game but try to find already decompressed files. You can also decompress under DOS Box but you need basic DOS knowledge.

What is deice? Is this a Windows or Workbench program? I would like to learn how to use it (rather then find a decompressed version) because I believe other similar games might require the same process.

Deice is for PC DOS only. I don't remember other games with that program.

AWolf3D has no sound or music, as amiman99 suggested you might want to check out [ Show youtube player ] instead

For AmiWolf you'll need the full retail game data files.
