Obitus

I would say
Year of first release is 1990
because
- Discscan says 1990 too
- cracked version was released also end of 1990.

Maybe another case that the cracked version is a preview or beta?
NOT changed (yet).

http://hol.abime.net/2275/review

There is no review that dates before February 1991.
That's why I love AMR so much! This has helped to fix lots of wrong dates, because it's hardly plausible that a magazine would "wait" 2 months after release date to publish the review. Nah!

Here's the Atari version, which must have come AFTER the Amiga one because it was not reviewed until late 1991:
http://www.mobygames.com/game/atari-st/obitus (ST Action 11/1991)
http://www.atari.st/view.php?id=1186 (ST Format 6/1992)

Diskscan = "1990": this means (C) 1990, which could be due to a version released on another platform BEFORE the Amiga one.
Could it be that Obitus is not an Amiga original?
In rare cases, it's also possible that the copyright predates the release date, especially at the turn of the year, or if the game features characters licensed from some movie or comic-strip company (Buena Vista; Hasbro etc.)

I've changed the entry to enter some release dates of conversions (ST: 1991, SNES/Famicom: 1994), but yet I left the year for the Amiga version untouched for the time being.

There are February-April 1991 magazine reviews. I would say an early 1991 release.

ACK; me too.
And chances are very good that the crack is a leaked pre-final version.

I think it's not so rare that the copyright predates a few months from the actual release. Anyone know someone that was at Psygnosis at that time and confirm the year and Amiga original bit?

This game is amiga original. The ST and PC versions came after.

The Box says 1990, the disks 1990 and also the manual.

This means nothing. Maybe completed in December 1990 and released in January/February 1991.

HOL retains the release year, not the Copyright.

No, I checked it against the magazine reviews, which are all <Ed: some year>.
Magazine reviews are really a very reliable source, because they'd always strive to be the first to have the game on their pages, if not 1 month before their competitors
