Happy FS-UAE > UFO:EU > Thank you !

Hi there guys

I just wanted to say a massive thank you, to Frode and FS-UAE
As you have helped me tick off an item from my gaming bucket list

I've been wanting to re-play and finish UFO: Enemy Unknown
for (well a couple of decades now !)

I started playing UFO:EU on my A-500 when I was a teenager
I got sick of sharing the computer with my bro (and waiting between 30-240
mins per each Alien turn)

So I upgraded to an A-1200 (The alien turns went down to 5-180 mins
depending on how complex the level was)

I never managed to complete the game (I even bought Amiga Format magazine
with the CD covermount and UFO:EU on it - as I figured that one day,
I'd eventually have an Amiga with a CD drive)

Time passed, I never got a CD drive for my Amiga and I never completed
UFO:EU on floppy.

My Amiga got boxed away, I ended up with a Windows PC (very meh) and
eventually got into Linux, where I've stayed ever since.

Recently I have had a major urge to dig out my old Amiga format cover disc
with UFO:EU on it, and install in on FS-UAE running on my Linux box.
So I did just that.

Well, weeks have gone passed, my soldiers have had countless horrific deaths
(Thats XCOM baby !)

And I've finally made it to Cydonia on Mars, and I've only gone and done it !
I've finally completed the game !

So a massive thank you, to Frode for all of his hard work in creating and
maintiaing FS-UAE.

And to everyone else on the forums, that help each other with all of the
trials and tribulations of owning or emulating the greatest home computer
ever made.

Cheers !

Wait until you discover projects such as OpenXcom - hour upon hours of fun with best game... on modern day PCs. I have no idea how many times I completed that game... (first time on DOS computer 1995 or 1996 iirc)

HI Anubis.

It's funny that you mention that..............
I have discovered OpenXcom, and have been playing it (via the PC version)
and I'm totally obsessed with it !

The new "Quality of life" improvements that they have made to the original game
are a massive improvement (of an almost perfect game).

Once I've completed the game once more (my current game)
I've going to try out some of the mods (The WH40K looks brilliant).

Cheers for the heads up though, much appreciated !
