A500 Ide
Greetings,
A friend of mine is considering the sidecar --> CF card option, but are there any that are IDE instead of SCSI? |

Not the cheapest option but you could forgo the sidecar and get an internal V293 IDE68k at €80.
Integrated CF + separate IDE + clock port http://www.students.tut.fi/~leinone3/ide/ide68k.html Just a shame that his next board (IDE + 8Mbytes RAM) is not functional yet. |

I'm really hanging out for that 8MB + IDE card he's working on! I wonder if he got the Clockport to work with any Clockport hardware. I think the built-on CF slot is an awesome idea too.

Yup. And there are more boards, but at least for the moment it seems demand is fine and number of physical boards available for purchase is in the negatives?
CF+IDE is a a good solution, but I recommend buying one of the SCSI side expansions, a SCSI-IDE adapter, IDE-CF adapter, and a CF card. Expect to pay about... 120€? But at least you will have a solution fairly quick and not be in inanimate suspension in the limbo of uncertainty. Same as with all projects on private/small business budgets I guess, just wish I could aim a blow torch at the excellent devs' buns to get some boards out there!! Cos I want one. |

I think there is no much use in SCSI for plain 68000 Amigas. They are slow by nature.

It'd be cheaper to buy an A600
As a bonus, you could play multiplayer Populous! |

hmmmm
I'll confirm the specs if your interested, but roughly I think HD is around 1GB (was working fine till i started trying to fill it up with mods, now it has checksums) The A500 + A590 combined have 1MB chip and 1.5 FAST so i would think the A590 contains 1MB Fast (not sure where that extra chip ram is coming from ) Ill look for the rom version because that may effect future upgrade plans! |
