Unfortunately this is stuck in Customs in Sydney and has been for about a week.

We've no idea why but we're trying to sort it out.

Having done much of my Christmas shopping online internationally, it's not un-common for items to sit in Sydney for a week or 2 before being cleared.

1 was a mouse mat. Sat there for 2 weeks before moving on.

On arrival, it hadn't even been opened for checking by customs.

Congrats to the Aussie winner

General sales tax. The wonderful Australian tax office have stepped up their quest for every last cent, even on over seas purchases of any amount.

A large expensive "gift" will be flagged I'm sure.

As we say "She'll be right". (It'll be fine).

Worst case, the lucky winner MAY be asked to pay GST at 10% of the perceived market value of the prize.

There is no tax on "winnings" in Australia so it should be fine, unless for some reason they do not acknowledge the competition as legitimate.

These are all logical guesses I'm making here btw.

Ok the parcel has arrived and the winner is unpacking it today.

A small donation has been made to EAB in line with the number of tickets purchased by EAB members.

I'd like to thank everybody that took the trouble to enter and Tim for offering the machine.

A total of £132.57 was raised for AmiBay and a donation of 12 Euro was made to EAB (in line with the % of tickets purchased by EAB members).

Perhaps we would have raised more without the doom and gloom statements from some people.
