Easy =) I have a CF card that is reachable from the outside via Kipper2k CF-IDE adapter.

Boot with no startup-sequence
acatune -maprom sys:test\romfile.rom

Once its loaded, in the split second it takes for it to initialize again, pull the card =) Boom, kickstart screen. Hehe. Yes I know your should not do that, but I am the curious type.

LOL!
I have same adapter but I don't dare to pull it out when power is on

Floppy kicking via Acatune though is a safe solution for testing.

That looks like a boot animation made specifically for minimig or the HxC floppy emulator

After all this just modifies the appearance of the kick screen

Here is how it looks in my custom KS3.9 rom :

All blue borders are missing because I'm using BBlank in my ROM. Is there a way to fix it ?

You got 44.3 working in a real kickstart rom?

I stopped using BBlank in the rom because of that exact reason..

I would love to be able to design my own screen to this. Then again, I never see this screen, I have hard drives :P

No sadly there is no way to fix this (at least for now).

BBlank has this side-effect for Kickstart screen that sux a$$ :P
I removed BBlank module from ROM as well so I'm now using MCP's BBlank feature for same effect. It's just you don't have Border blanking in Early Startup Menu or loading floppy disks

There is a command om aminet to disable the IDE port. Not sure if it brings you back to the kickstart screen on reboot though =) I used it in my A4000 to disable it when I bought the fast ATA card and did not have a IDE terminator yet.

@mfilos
Did you find time to test this in a real kickstart rom yet?

Better yet, has anyone got this to work in a real kickstart rom (not mapromed).

I tried it only with MapROM using a floppy disk and it worked just fine.
Today I'm gonna try it with real rom and report back man.

Thanks =) I've only tested 44.3. I'm doing 44.0 now as well incase its the background color it does not like.

Edit: Yes, 44.0 seems to work fine in real rom. Something with the background color then perhaps that the amiga does not like in a real eprom =)

Ok just tried my friend

I burned two ROMS both of which were plain 3.1 with a new romboot (44.3 = 3D Logo + Disk) plus NoClick module inside.
EPROMS were AMD 27C400 at 120ns.
- First was burned normally
- Second was burned normally plus the SpeedyROM option in Remus

Both ROMS operate just fine in my A600 showing correctly the new romboot logo (nice to see that in real life as well).

Sadly I can't try it with 1MB ROM as I don't have a spare 27C800 atm
I have to order some to have and I'll make a try once I have these.

Most weird. I have to do some more tests as well it seems. Just have to order more 27C400 as I'm all out. Seems the Chinese holidays are still going on though as its hard to get a hold of anyone over there. Need 100, 105 or 120 roms but only 150 at ebay right now.

Thanks for that! At least now I know you should probaby get a picture with 44.3 as well.

Keeping these for now as I got the latest icon.library updated in them as well.

Very strange how this can be so much fun.. I burned EPROMs 20 years ago (BIOS for PC) but that was boring.

This is the reason I'm so fed up with EPROMS
We certainly need a FAST erasable solution for our beloved A600s and it would be best if it could be flashed directly from our Amigas to replace using External programmers and Windows for that task.

Lets see if kipper2k's + RedskullDC's work will be ready this year (http://eab.abime.net/showpost.php?p=...&postcount=133)

Me too. It's just that according to Lotharek he's gathering interest atm for the A1200 version. Once it's done they will make an A500/600/2000 version as well.

Lets see...

I keep thinking, more and more, that these kind of hardware projects should really be crowdsourced. Nothing shows interest than a bit of cash thrown the way of the developers
