however: Quote:
i have the same question... the uncps stuff is a little hard on my comprension for what concerned the ecs version i toght that if i just saved the palette of the original image, then i could have applyed it to the customized one, resave the IFF and transform it to a cps again. i'm waiting to have stable and collaudated tools before to attempt any customization now |

@Marco: yes I understand.
I'd like to replace old EOB Graphics by improved ones but the main problem is that walls are stored into VCN files and not CPS ... So, there are no way to export/import them actually. I added a sample showing old version, enhanced one. I think we may make an enhanced version that will fully take advantages of the AGA chipset ... otherwise, what is the true interested to port from ECS to AGA if no graphic improvement is done ? well as i see it there are diverse possible scenary:
1) the tools to modify [to different extent] the content of the games are released by differnt peoples with different courses: in this case the modifications on the content will be done indipendently by different people with no cohordinations, different results in quality etc. from a user perspective this means mostly that there will be content not vastly tested or not at the same standard as commercial games. 2) we cohordinate the tools to be produced, as someone has suggested some time ago already, we choordinate also with the eobwiki people what's needed to do what. thenwe decide the course for the modifications: should it be an enanchment of the graphics or a total conversion. then we give out tasks to the different parts of the actual modifications and finally we test the results. consider that while this way don't excludes the other, it has also the pro that the community will perceive the result as more as the baby of a community. AGF was born for that after all... however, on my part i was of the mind of letting CFOU finish is work and waiting for some tool for PC asthat's the platform i use to do the graphics that i will then import to amiga... i'm interested on what you guys think, if you want a chat, i'll be in IRC in 10 minutes |

@Marco: I also use PC for some works. I have PureBASIC and DarkBASIC Professional so I can easily develop tools make graphics changes in EOB with these languages (easier than on AmosPRO)
Sorry I don't have/use IRC but I use MSN: psykokwak75AThotmail.com (replace AT with @ ) |

$20?
that's barely a decent couple of premixes from the bar... I don't know why people think this meek amount is too much for anything... I'd light a smoke (if I still smoked) with a $20 bill just to prove a point... people are so tight yet they spend it on stupid other things... |

palette are not in VGA file but it's external file (768 octets) by example: if your file is "Mine.CPS" you must have a palette named "Name.col" or "name.pal", palette is loader if present if nopalette file present, of course previous palette is used. but warning a palette are not all time resetted by game motor, some time a same palette is used by several screens... if you are a black screen you can sure palette is change, in other case u must test using .PAL file so for intro try to not change palette at all screen to convert, PPAINT IFF palette in VGA, i have started a little tool (for the moment i save it by hand using a monitor but i will soon add a function in UNCPS-AGA to convert palette and after a iff/LBM converter which save directly CPS file and palette but there are another wait.... so perhaps i will adapt EOB2 motor to use direclty IFF aga pictures will there palette... I managed to get all VCN blocks with the correct color but I don't know how the game organize them. I tried to find infos on eob.wiki.... but I don't understand how it work. Can you give me any clue ? Plz use ENGINE instead of MOTOR |

There are 3 VCN formats: - ECS 32 colors (but 16 used) - VGA EOB1&2 32 colors (16 colors backround/16 colors wall sets) -VGA LandOfLores 128 colors 1 VMP format for EOB1/EOB2/LandOfLore: Same struct (except its packed fro some version and some WORDS have Hight/Low bytes swaped) VCN is Block8*8 GFX list (Chunky GFX on PC/5 Bitmap son amiga) if you view VCN file with UnCPS-AGA its the 2 first screens VMP is a 'plan'/'MAP' to build 1 Background and different wallsets (nb can be different) (last displayed Screens on UnCPS-AGA=> third screen and next ones ) |

Maybe you should have a poll about what games the guys prefer, then ask for donations. Let the guys declare how much they will donate, then you add it up and see if it is worth it.
I'll start: If you work on Dune 2, I will donate $20. |

hm, $20 sounds much, but if you port Lands of Lore too, I would certainly offer my contribution.
