[Found: Global Gladiator] A SNES/Sega jungle platform game with "slime balls"?

For a short period (a few months), somewhere between 1992-1995, me and my friend would, after school, go to a toy/game store where we would take turn playing games on their console system. I don't remember what system it was, but I do know I played "cool spot" there. (so most likely a "Sega Master system" or "Sega mega drive/Genesis", or "SNES").

One side scrolling platform game was crazy fun (to me back then). My strongest memory is that it was set in a jungle environment (at least the level I got to play), very similar to Flashback:

And Ruff 'n' Tumble

In fact, it looked so much like "Ruff 'n' Tumble" that when I first saw it I thought it was that one! So why do I think this isn't
the game I so fondly remember from my childhood?
  • I don't recognize the weapon / bullets at all
  • I don't recognize the player character. I don't think it was that short and stubby
  • I think there were more platforms/levels in it.

But most importantly, my second strong memory of the game was that there were some kind of green "slime balls" (that I can't see any of in "Ruff 'n' Tumble"). I don't remember if they were what you shoot at or shoot with though. Looked something like this (pardon my lacking drawing skills):

Other "guesstimates":
  • player character was maybe human? (sorry my memory is very vague)
  • I've looked a long time in the Amiga scene for it, so I strongly suspect it was never available on the Amiga, only on either Sega and/or SNES.
  • For some reason I'm thinking coca-cola product placement, but that's probably my mind cross-linking the cool spot (7up) with my vast Commander Keen (pepsi) playing on DOS.

Thanks for the replies!

Hey, "Pitfall" looks incredibly much like what I remember of the game. I've watched a bunch of videos now on youtube on it, but for some reason, those slime-thingy I remember doesn't seem to be there. But otherwise it looks pretty much exactly like what I remember.

Perhaps I remeber wrong on the slime-thingy?

Holy moly, that game even has the golden "M" for McDonald's! Amazing how such a distant memory, which I thought was Coca Cola, was McDonald's (to me they're the same).

I recognize the red bubbly score-font as well. Not the player-character though, but that's probably my mind playing tricks on me.

Thanks people!

Good, I knew it had to be Global Gladiators!

By the way, it's available for the Amiga - it was a game which I loved to death when I was a kid
