Post New findings

I have now replaced the socket on my A2000 mobo, and I put a 3M ZIF since I figured I have a lot of testing ahead...

I have tried various releases of kickstarts, and as far as I can see the machine will only boot with version 2.04 or 2.05. (the PROMS have been verified in my A600). I haven't found anything online that would indicate that kick 3 isn't kompatible with certain A2000 mobos; maybe you can give me a pointer?

In the mean time, I'm making a SMT version of Redskulls flashROM adapter. Not sure that it will give me a break with my A2000, but it will be a welcome addition to the other machines currently stored away in the basement.
I will try to keep the size down, especially the height, as it has caused some trouble in the A600.

Will probably make another thread about that project. Til' next time!

I can now confirm that the adapter works perfectly fine in my A600! My conclusion is that the large pins I used have caused some permanent damage to my A2000 ROM socket. I will replace the socket with my adapter, and I guess that will do the job.

The design has given me an urge to do something more 21:st century -style... Maybe a flash-based dual ROM (internally upgradeable kickswitch).

However, I have a completely different (Amiga-)project at hand, that takes all my free time right now. I will post info about it once we (me and my fellow co-constructors) come to a point we find suitable to present to the public. But rest assured; It will blow you away!

This is great, thanks for sharing your ups and downs. I'm building a plain 3.1 ROM adapter for an A1000 from guides on the AK1.org site. What it is your project?! We must know!
