Amiga Apllications DataBase (new Website)
Hi everybody,
I wanna try to start a new database for Amiga software, exactly for Amiga applications. This page is still under constuction yet. I hope it was a good idea. If so please help to keep alive this page and make it to the most visited page for any questions for Amiga applications. Every idea is welcome to make it better. If you have any screenshot of any missed programs please let me know and/or contact me. Thanks in advance and have fun on: http://aadb.amiga.me Cheers Josh Ps.: Post here what you think about... |

Wow!
Josh, that´s awesome. Some kind of HOL for apps. Hopefully it´ll grow as fast as HOL. Well done. |

Very nice work Josh
Like viddi said that will become the HOL for apps Since it's a beta version I assume you add filter and search features later |

@Josh
It's a good starting point. I wish you luck with your project and I'll check through my applications and see what I've got. Are you putting all your manuals on it? Dave G |

@all:
Thanks! If somebody wanna help, in example with uploads from software, here are the details for a special acoount for AADB on my FTP server. Server: ftp://studiowwh.dyndns.org Port: 21 Username: aadb Password: aadb Please: Don't upload any APC&TCP software! @mihcael: It's planned now to merge my database with another ones. After merging I am still on further work on my own site too - as an alternative. Cheers Josh Last edited by Josh; 20 November 2008 at 16:50. |

A nice idea. I've been wanting to have pages about Amiga applications on ExoticA for some time (more in-depth than the crunchers page we have currently and the editors pages). Although I was going to start with stuff like disk copiers and so on rather than large "applications". but this is similar.
Fancy working together ? I think it would work really well if this data was part of ExoticA and wiki editable for example. People could easily add more screenshots then. Would it be something you might be interested in ? I just read that you are going to merge elsewhere already, but I would still be interested if we could both benefit from something. For example if the data was on exotica wiki, and someone updated you could merge the changes back to yours etc. |

I think this will be fantastic, but in its current incarnation needs a lot of direction, design and thought!
Have a look at how HOL does it and do something similar Naturally there are many different versions of many apps, so it'd be good to have them all, with full info (Programmer, publisher, PD, Commerical etc). It'd also be good to compare different apps, and differing versions of the same app to see differences/improvements etc.. Still a good start, I feel you need to take a few days to consider what you want to present and how you plan to present it |

After speaking to Josh he seems interesting in integrating this into exotica, but that wouldn't mean a pure database solution wouldn't be useful too (but it should be open and shared imho)

I think the most value of this project will be an integration into Abime (like AMR and HOL). Using the already set up examples, a first database modelation phase would come in handy. While on the go filling up the database, new features are easily added then.
