BB4: Assign Program failed error #8000000B

Just finished installing BB3 and 4 on A4000 OS3.9. It boots, resets and gets stuck on the above error.

I can boot with no startup sequence and LoadWB via cli. I have tried reverting to original OS 3.9 startup-sequence. Same error.

Any suggestions?

Which processor? Sounds like a missing or wrong 68040 library?

phase5 68060. Was fine before I installed BB3 and BB4 update

Have phase 5 68040.library version 46.5 68040old.library version 46.5 68040new.library version 46.5 and 68060.library version 46.15 in Libs:

You could try adding set echo on to the top of your startup-sequence to see exactly when you hit the failure I suppose.

Your version numbers do mostly tally with http://aminet.net/package/driver/other/040_060Libs - so I may have you barking up the wrong tree here.

I can't reproduce the issue here yet unfortunately. I can rule out a few causes though: 68040/68060 libraries are not updated by BB3&4, neither is the Assign command.

I have a hypothesis that dos.library 42.1 may be the cause. I suggest trying with the old V40.3. Before you tried booting with the old startup-sequence, did you turn off the machine? Otherwise dos.library 42.1 will still be in memory.

What options did you choose when installing (eg. contributions)?

>I can boot with no startup sequence and LoadWB via cli.

Is the system usable when you do that? (ie. is Assign the only program causing problems?)

Oh crap! Hard drive does not spin up. No sound, nothing. This set up took me ages to get right (Of course not blaming Boing bag updates).

*sigh* looks re-install time....

When you have an 68060- A4000, and the smalles hard drive you have is 20gb and the emergency back up floppy has read errors as does your 3.1 Install disc as are half the few floppies you have, and you don't have an amiga online and you rely on compact flash to sneaker net files, and your Fastata 4000 conflicts with the old HdToolbox and Winuae doesn't recognise the hard drive unless you don't use IDE, but then gives you a NDOS hard drive install you can;t boot off unless you boot of a floppy Workbench its not a trivial thing to get it up and running. Now to install CGX, updates, and patches to make it usable.
