WinUAE Video Output Resolution/Capture Before Filtering Query
Hi folks,
I think is more my lack of understanding than an actual problem, but I wondered if anyone can advise on why the output of video clips using the built in WinUAE recorder appears to switch to 752 x 574 whenever I start recording after the machine has been started and Capture Before Filtering is enabled? However, if I start recording from the point the program is loaded (i.e. before the Amiga machine has been started), the output seems to follow the resolution I have configured under the 'Display' options (e.g. 800 x 600), but any subsequent clip switches back to 752 x 574 after that. What I'm wondering is, why is it choosing 752 x 574? Last edited by Al82; 10 October 2017 at 20:33. |

I have noticed this as well. The first avi is always different resolution when recording from the start

Looking at the logs, there's a line that says:
D3D9Ex: 752*574 texture allocated, bits per pixel 32 If I change the resolution option in the display menu then the log entry changes appropriately: Lowres D3D9Ex: 376*574 texture allocated, bits per pixel 32 Hires D3D9Ex: 752*574 texture allocated, bits per pixel 32 SuperHires D3D9Ex: 1504*574 texture allocated, bits per pixel 32 The resolution setting appears to dictate the resolution of the video output. Is the resolution somehow related to overscan? |

Before capturing = capture from internal buffer which is always as big as absolute max visible Amiga resolution, including all overscan.
It can be changed by manual config file editing: From changelog: - Added config file only optional AVIOutput position and offset parameters: recording_width and recording_height, (resolution of video) and recording_x and recording_y, offset from top/left of Amiga display. If offsets are not set or negative, Amiga display is automatically centered. Only available in "capture before filtering" mode. Initial wrong resolution is a bug. (fixed now, delay avioutput init until first frame or sound buffer is requested) |
