Os 3.9 q's

Hi there. I installed os 3.9 on my a500+, 030/55, 128mb .
I did an install over 3.1 via a mounted 3.9 iso.
It worked fine from the looks of it, though I'm having some questions.
First of all I can't seem to install any of the boing bags. I keep getting execution errors. I unarc the boing bags on the amiga itself with dopus4.
Any suggestions?
Also I noticed that the the datatypes used are better than what I had in 3.1. Jpg backdrops look much better rendered. Are these datatypes also available outside of 3.9? The warp datatypes I see are still under development, but you can only get trial versions, paying over 20 bucks for something like datatypes for now is a sacrifice I'm not willing to make.
Also I was wondering weither 3.9 is an os at all. Or can I just as well pimp up a 3.1 install to do all 3.9 offers after install?

The OS 3.9 BoingBags are encrypted and you need the OS 3.9 CD to be mounted while you run the Installer scripts. It may not work with a simple uncompressing from DOpus, because then you will probably also need the zip password. Usually, some media files on the CD are used for authentication.

Yes, there are many free and very good datatypes on Aminet and also some recent threads about them here in the forum. The Search function is your best friend! For example:

Rendering is done by picture.datatype, not by the sub classes. You get similar results if you install the picture.datatype which comes with Picasso96.

3.9 is a software-only update based on a 3.1 kickstart, though replaces some components in the kickstart.
