Tape Backup: Archive Viper 150 (21247)
Hi all.
I've installed WinUAE on my windows XP, and it runs pretty good for now. Back in the old days I had and still have my OLD Archive Viper 150 (21247) Tape drive. Now I really want to restore those tapes I made 12 yrs ago, to WinUAE. When I open Ami-Back and select the uaescsi.device and select unit 4, and want to start restoring it says "cannot open device uaescsi.device in unit 4" I know that the Unit is 4 on the adaptec scsi which is in my pc. I've noticed that the Archive Viper 150 tape has NOT been correctly installed in Windows - IT needs a better driver or so, but here comes the question - Does WinUAE use the settings from windows, like if windows can't see or deal with my Tape device then WinAUE cant either??? If that's the reason, then I fully understand why it aint working, but what does all of you good ppl in here say??? Btw, does anyone has a perfect Windows driver for that drive, if that's the reason..... Regards Tuffy |

First, uaecsi.device unit numbers have nothing to do with real SCSI ids. Check the winuaelog.txt for correct ID. (log enable checkbox is in misc-panel or run winuae with -log parameter)
Tape drive does not need driver but your SCSI card must have working Windows driver. You may also need to select "SPTI + SCSI Scan" in misc panel. |

Well, then I better start searching for a Window driver before I can continue with WinUAE
But I doubt that I can find any, But I better give it a try |

Better check the log with ASPI and SPTI+SCSISCAN options first. AFAIK "all" Adaptec cards should be supported in Windows

Some output from the file:
16-093: uaescsi.device:0 = 'LITE-ON DVD+RW LDW-401S ES0K' 16-093: uaescsi.device:1 = 'PLEXTOR CD-R PX-W4824A1.01' 16-093: uaescsi.device:2 = 'SS3937J OYH750N 1.0 ' 16-093: uaescsi.device:3 = 'ARCHIVE VIPER 150 21247-005' and when i changed the unit from 4 to 3 in the ami backup, then it would see the tape... WOW... I'm Surprised. Thanks again |
