Anyway, I supose you have tried ebay, right? And apple's store sometimes have factory-refurbished equipment, this would be your best bet.

For "other ways", I don't know.

so you want a cheap iPod?

....pst!

what you want to do is this: line your coat pocket with lots of aluminium foil to fool the shoplifting detectors (you can test it by putting a mobile phone into the pocket and calling it, you've got enough foil if it can't pick up a signal) then just waltz into the nearest Apple Store, swipe an iPod into your pocket, and walk away

Its a 10Gig unit, I can get a replacement set of 3 cases for £15, and a screen for £24.

I suspect the battery is fucked hence why it doesn't boot, but I have someone that will buy it from me for the same price if its a total loss.

Still, if anyone else knows of a source of cheap iPods, do let me know

Do you specifically want an iPod, or just a harddrive mp3 player? The iPod gets all the publicity, and is a nice design, but there are many others that, unless you want direct access to iTunes, are equal or better and certainly cheaper.

Specifically wanted the iPod for some reason. I think its simply a Kudos thing. Creative do a neat little unit for a fraction of the price, but thats women for you. If its not Gucci, Prada or Apple, they get all huffy!

As it has so far only cost me £40, I can take the hit. If it costs me less than £100 all in to get it sorted, then thats smartie points for me later

So far, battery, front case, rear case and screen need replacing, which is a lot easier than it sounds. Hopefully have it sorted by Wednesday (when I get the rest of the parts come through, I aint paying Apples prices to fix it!).

Oh dear

Perhaps if the Neistat Brothers had actually bothered to do their research, they wouldn't have gone to the trouble of making a not very funny movie on something they clearly know fuck all about.

Hard drive and battery are replaceable. Battery has a plug in socket for christsakes, how much more replaceable do you need?

I would email them to tell them what a bunch of fuckwits they are, but then again, who are the Neistat Brothers and should I care?
