Cougar/Puma Force

Cougar Force:
http://hol.abime.net/3102

Hello,
I know the game is not one of the best of its kind but I think it would be worthy for a WHDLoad patch.
I still have two working disks, if it is wished I can upload it in the zone.

The problem Irek, is that the coktel games are using a Macro command language not really compatible with the A1200.

Since it's not in ASM, it's a nightmare to patch.....

So it sounds like a challenge, then we can only hope that Sting will find a solution for this problem.

Don't listen to dlfrsilver, there is nothing even remotely tricky here. Game has been coded in C (intro is in 100% asm) and has a few 24 bit faults which are rather easy to fix. Expect the finished patch soon.

I have chatted with Muriel Tramis Lately. The coktel vision system was a macro language, made so that a non programmer person could made a game.

But then you're welcome if you can patch this game 100%.

It doesn't matter who you talked to, it simply is wrong that it is "a nightmare to patch" as you claimed. It might help to check the code before claiming things like that.

CFOU just couldn't patch it to the end. CFOU was a great Amiga patcher and coder.

EDIT: it was Bargon Attack CFOU got problem with. All the coktel vision use the same engine.

My last response regarding this silly discussion: Did you check the code of the game? Did you patch it? I can answer to both questions with "yes" and until you have done the same please refrain from posting statements like you did here.

And C-Fou! has nothing to do with this (he sure is an excellent coder) and neither has the guy you talked to about the game. Just throwing random people into the discussion doesn't make your statement any less wrong.

Thank you for the explanation.
It is nice to hear that soon there will be a patch prepared for this game.

Code is system-friendly (but rather crappy) and uses the OS for everything. No hardware banging at all.

I have finished the patch for this rather craptastic game and hope I never have to play it again. Enjoy anyway. If you can.

Just a little FYI to prevent false bug reports popping up.
if using UAE, make sure cycle-exact mode is ticked, if not it'll crash when pressing space on title screen.

Thanks a lot.
Yes indeed, the game really does not belong to the best games of its kind, however I'm glad that the game finally got its whdload patch and I can try it on my setup.

My versions can't be installed straight, due to the disk naming.

Once all the files copied in the data folder, the game crash with an illegal exception.

I will post the log file tomorrow

Yes I saw a youtube video for the game. Did they OpenScreen() or just set up a View? Have you come across any good OS friendly games with non static screens?? (Megaball)
