Duel 04: Assassin VS Leander
Strider.. how bad is that game on Amiga. Do you feel the ST which is inside in every Tiertex game.
Fortunately the profitable Amiga market of those years permitted companies make their revisions in the shape of original titles. So, which of this action-platformers ( with Striders reminiscences and higher console-esque ) do you prefer? Now, just to remind you, this is the penultimate duel.. last one will be an speed duel Last edited by JudasEZT; 20 October 2012 at 13:17. |

Assassin is a poop,if they tried to make a character agile what they got is the opposite, the closest thing to Strider on Amiga is Zool.Leander doesn't seem bad but I have not played much.I reserve the right to vote in the future when I have played these games further.

I think Assassin should have music and smaller levels - too much dead ends for me. They had chance to improve it in Special Edition but all he got was some cables and weapon with better range. I really liked Assassin as kid but was quickly bored as adult.

Assassin SE was dire,.. why leave the boomerang is beyond my comprehension.. it would have to be more boomerang based.
Assassin and Leander has their flaws each one.. no doubt. |

It sounds like I'm not alone in that I don't really like either game. Assassin has some annoying control issues and Leander has large, boring and indistinct maps. I will have to sit this vote out unless there's an option added for equally bad

It would been Wolfchild and/or Switchblade 2 but I think they have not so many Strider reminiscences..
btw, I agree that Leander has some of the worst level map design ever on a commercial game. boring, useless platforms, unrewarding.. |

Of the two, it's Leander for me.

Leander for me, even if i find the two games really different in their own styles.
Switchblade 2 vs Assassin would have been more appropriated. |

I love Leander (so it's getting my vote), but at the same time I'll admit its shortcomings.
As has already been mentioned, it features some massive indistinct maps, which makes getting lost all too easy. The biggest issue I've found with the game are that it has too many "leaps of faith", where you're required to jump into a void, which may have a platform for you to land on, or it may have a row of instant-death spikes. There's far to much of this in Leander. I think I'll have to give Assassin a go this weekend. I've not played it for years. |

Seems people guards better memories from Leander.
Again, Leander deceived me because of the level designs but it was nice to see how TravellerTales improved that aspect along the years.. I confess myself like an addict to all their Lego games they developed these last years. As for Assassin I felt it was slightly dull and uninspired at first plays.. but longlasted pretty good and more like a collect'm up than a shoot'emup.. turned into a pretty good entertainment,.. and with big final bosses. ( avoid Special Edition ) Thanks to voters.. ( still 3 days for voting yet ) now watch out for last duel. Last edited by JudasEZT; 25 October 2012 at 10:11. |
