SWOS 96/97 WHDLoad Problem
When I try and save I got the following error:
"dos error #205 " can't be finding "SAVE/KRK.CAR" Any ideas about this? The docs say 45 saves can be made to the HD. There isn't an internal floppy (DF0: ) by the way. |

That's strange, I had a problem with the WHDload version as well, only I could save a game (it was in the 'saves' directory) but when I tried to load it back in, the game couldn't find it.
It's weird that you get an error saying that it isn't found though, seeing as you are trying to save a file and not load it. Since I've long since deleted it from my HD (I play it from floppy now) can the save dir be named anything you like, because maybe it can't find the dir because you've named it something different? I know this might seem silly, but it's worth a look. You might need to name it saves or something. |

Well I have PMed Galahad as it is his install apparently. Hopefully he will respond here.
Are any other installs known to work problem free? |

I have this install and it works(plays) fine. I can confirm this in Winuae and on my 040 10MB A1200.
I will try and save a game and report back shortly. Some older versions of the install required you to actually CREATE a folder called "save" Mark Last edited by MSC; 27 September 2004 at 19:25. |

Maybe an upload of the full install wouldn't come amiss

Within the SWOS folder, you need to create a new folder called SAVE.
You can then save the game easily. On returning from the save, if the game behaves as if a key is stuck, simply press a cursor key to return to normal. Just tested on Winuae using Galahads install version 1.52(v2). After many hours of searching and frustration, this is THE best install for SWOS. Perhaps Galahad could update the readme file in the install to mention the save problem. Good Luck Mark |

I was obviously typing as you posted. The version running in winuae is from the complete WHDload package "S". I used Galahads install with my originals on my A1200, which sadly, is currently out of action. (Hopefully not for much longer) Both versions work fine for me. I am fairly new round here, can i put my working version in the ZONE for you. (if i have access that is). I am still not sure what i can and can`t put in the ZONE. Mark |

Hi
Yep that has solved it. Thanks! I guess if Galahad reads this he could do well to but the folder in for a new version of the install or at least alter the docs. |

I am now back doing installs again. SWOS is going to HOPEFULLY be updated before xmas as will Cannon Fodder and some others to support other versions and enable SWOS to use fastmem so that there is no slowdown on faster machines. My time has been limited as of late, now I have more time.
That is all |

Exactly how will it slow down? I've never had any slowdowns on my amiga, Blizzard 1260, 128mb fast, Voodoo 3 3000 etc etc. Shouldn't mine be one of the "faster" amigas?

Occasionally, on faster Amigas, the game drops a few frames when there is a lot on screen. Stupid lame coding considering the blitter objects are so scrawny!
