Nice, there's also the full source code to Great Courts in the archive. One of Blue Byte's first games. 550kb of pure 68000. Get it quick before Blue Byte files a DMCA notice Wonder how that got into the hands of Yves. Must be a leftover from when he was working for Ubi Soft as the first Blue Byte games were also published by Ubi before Blue Byte became their own publisher. Nice piece of history, though.

I should add that Great Courts is impressively well documented. Every freakin' line has a comment. Even every single RTS is commented:

Code:
rts ; Back to Call !
No surprise Blue Byte is still in business... quality code right from the start!

I so love this stuff. The source to Agony is great stuff to have available, that game uses some seriously interesting tech stuff. Will be interesting to see how it was done "back in the day"

Great courts belongs to ubisoft, blue byte were only the devs on this game.

Getting sources for Agony & Great Courts !! it's really great!! That will probably be impossible to rebuild those games from the sources but it gives a good insight of how they're done.

After Agony Art & Magic apparently started work on a platformer called Arny's Dream. There are some sources and data files of it in the archive. There's even an executable but it doesn't work here. Has anybody managed to actually run this to see its state?

I suspect that's for Spellsinger, an arcade game running on custom hardware?

No, you have to look inside the HDD backup. There's a separate Arny's Dream drawer which contains graphics, world 0 map, a level editor, and source codes for a platformer named Arny's Dream.

Title screen:

Player sprite:

Tiles:

Source code says that work on the game was started on 20/6/1992, i.e. right after Agony hit the shelves but Agony probably didn't sell well enough so Arny's Dream got dumped

Always nice to see someone contributing to the community simply for the love of retro with no Patreon or irrelevant sponsors attached. Thanks.

I hope we get to hear the GTW story of Arny's Dream. That's got me curious.

You need the right version of GFA.

Thanks for response. I've tested every version from FTP (3.0 to 3.52) and they all give the same memory error, so I'm at a loss. Shame as it would be nice to try and create alternative levels.
