With 3.2 .1 I am finding some of my long time workbench programs like tools daemon, magic menu are not working properly. They either freeze or don't work and then hang the system. Even with a fresh reinstall they still do not work consistently. But the dock from 3.9 works great.

On OS 3.2.1 MagicMenu works perfectly, see my screenshot, you are probably using 3.9 applications not supported by OS 3.2.1.

As you have already been told you need to install clean OS 3.2.1 and then test the applications one by one, removing the incompatible ones.

Sorry for offtopic:
My poor Amiga 1200/tf1230 probably can't run all that eye candy, but what program changes the Workbench menubar? Is it MCP?

I've an un accelerated A1200 with an 8Mb expansion, handles ToolsDeamon, MagicMenu and NewIcons without too much hassle, have a play...

ToolsDaemon adds entries to the menu bar, MagicMenu is the eye candy.

To change the WB menus, you don't need tools daemon for that, I use the supplied OS3.2 Tools Menu script for that.
I already have MagicMenu.
I meant the way AMIGASYSTEM changed the general appearance. There's a boing ball in the workbench titlebar, for example.

I always used for years 8 colors MWB themes for my A600 (ECS) as anything more than 8 colors is not pleasant for ECS.

So for a PAL Hi-res Laced (640x512) the following result is not bad for eyecandy (at least not for my taste).

OFC since you have an A1200 with 030, you can get more beefy for eyecandy using either Rebel's palette @ 16 colors for ultra fast performance

...up to 256 colors without drawbacks.

It's up to you adding extra things based on your preference like VisualPrefs for GUI changes, Birdie for window colorization, MagicMenu for rightclick options, ToolsDaemon or MenuTools(of OS3.2.1) for extra menu items, TitleShadow for shadow or outline on Window titlebars etc

If you are referring to the Boing "Logo," I used VisualPrefs (GUI Preferences)
