Xenon II and Rainbow Islands are the two that spring to mind. Though to be fair to the Bitmap Bro's, it is hard for the ending to be bad when there is none!

As for Rainbow Islands... aargh - I was really pleased with myself when I finally made it through that whole damn game, and what did I get?
Well done - now can you do it again? F*** O**!#@

Question

Are you talking about the "full" Amiga ending though? (As in collecting all the diamonds each level, followed by 1 big Diamond each on completion of each level). The "tossing up" ending was okay, certainly better than others, it was just painful trying to get there though!

heh - along the Bitmap Brothers line is Speedball 2 - got that ending sucked - also if you failed to win the first division first time around you get a Game Over message.

The ending is exactly the same as what you get for promotion except the ball is gold.

Piss poor springs to mind.

Hmm, I don't honestly remember, but probably I didn't get the 'full' ending which is why it seemed a bit lame! Maybe I'll have to have another go.

Well....I think the worse ending has to go to...drum roll please..

XENON 1....

Why? well, when you finish the game it returns you back to the first level...and guess what? That's right...not even an ending..or a well done, or a thanks for playing....NOTHING!!

I'm on fire at the moment!! Just finished Xenon & Battle Squadron....without cheating..I'm 31 and still got what it takes!!

Ok....next...

Wings and Knights of the Sky - both get you to work so hard, and put in so many hours play, all for such shite at the end.

Formula One Grand Prix (Microprose). On any setting except Ace, when you win the championship the game just says "Well Done. Now try the game on a harder level". No idea what it does if you are World Champion at Ace level...

Lemmings had a pretty pantstacular ending. The first time I completed it the game crashed on me and various lemming sprites flooded the screen from top to bottom while it repeatedly said "Oh No!" and "Let's go!" in a repetitive crashy sort of way. The second time it just said "Congratulations" and played an audio file of applause.

That was pretty much it. The ending on the recent Windows re-release is even worse, too.

Finished the AMIGA version of Xenon?

I can finish the Spectrum version using only one had, but the Amiga version has a so crap collision detection routine (The hitbox is BIGGER than your ship), and some areas are just SO frustrating..

Most games have crap endings anyway.

What's the ending of Disposable Hero? I never managed to beat it, but I read in The One that the ending was actually quite good....

captain planet for me. surprisingly, really quite a nice game. but the ending is a texted page saying "well done, you have saved the planet", or words to that effect. also, we could never finish the earth level without breaking the ring at the end. where are we supposed to put the donkeys? it didnt matter though because we still had earth's powers in the final showdown level.

lemmings 2, finishing every level on gold. its a terrible ending if you didnt have the relevant disk, when asked. if you did, it was probably quite satisfying.

taa.

How the Hell did you manage to complete the Water Level of Captain Planet without breaking the ring? I could never figure it out.

Captain Planet sux, I can't believe someone would play that up until the end for free choice.

the water level was fun. first you had to go and clean the water by dropping the cannisters on the conveyor belt. then go up to the top left and open the taps all the way down to the water. then release the dolphins and then they can swim to safety.
also, on the fire level, get the nine monster mascots in an alternating order and you receive mega bonuses and lives coming out of your ears, for use in harder levels.
it was a pretty funky game overall. im off to look for an adf.
tommy.
