Amiga 1200 Desktop + Indivision AGA MK2cr + FastATA 1200 Mk-V
As with the previous FastATA version, also MK V does not live together with the Indivision in an A1200. With a single riser for both kickstart sockets, it still won't work, you need 2 risers before the MK V is NOT touching the Indy.
But then of course you cannot fit your keyboard anymore. Many suggestions and hacks in the past were done, with varying degree of success. But honestly, I was not willing to resolder sockets, dremel the keyboard, sockets or kickstart chips. In fact my solution was much more radical, albeit sacrificing the A1200 "single brick" philosophy: just use a SUM USB adapter! 29€, Plug n Play, problem solved. I just removed the Amiga keyboard and use an external slim USB keyboard. As an added bonus the A1200 has a lot more fresh air so the Indy and ACA1221 can cool nicely |

and FYI, according to Sysinfo benchmarking:
(running off an old OCZ Vertex2 60GB SSD, ACA1221 @28MHz) Code:
original A1200 IDE speed= 1,833,174 bytes/s (PIO-0) FastATA MK V IDE speed = 7,349,831 bytes/s (PIO-5) Code:
FastATA MK V IDE speed = 9,362,285 bytes/s (PIO-5) I wonder what the absolute max is on an A1200 using IDE (any addon hardware)? Documentation says theoretical max is around 16MB/s |
