A bit uneven and strange opening sequences, but still fun (unofficial) Bond feature.
I think it was based on Thunderball.

This movie is the reason I name so many of my Female Game Toons Phatims or Phatima Blush, spelled incorrectly I know

So, no fan of The Rock (1996) among the crowd of Sean Connery admirers ? Some critics pretend it's the only worthwhile Michael Bay movie .

I like the Rock, it's a good 90's action movie. But not much more.

Just watched The Rock on my quest to be watching good Connery movies to honor his memory, very average fare filled with uni-dimensional characters I must say. Half an hour of good, not great, chemistry between Connery and Cage, and that's it. Rest doesn't really make much sense storywise. Sorry if I sounded like I was recommending it. If you recently watched it, better erasing it from your memory like what I have decided to do . I guess it was heavily inspired by Clear and Present Danger (1994), only they seem to have overlooked the highlights from the latter.

Personally, I prefer a phlegmatic Bond, hence Roger. Also, Timothy Dalton wasn't the best at playing Bond, but the Living Daylights (1987) is a pretty good film overall. When I was younger, my favorite Bond movie was Octopussy (1983). Now, I find it a tad too hectic.
