Was there an improvement of pixel art after Deluxe Paint IV got released?
When you read the Deluxe Paint III tutorial in the book the first tutorial is about making colour gradients. The limitation being that the colours have to be next to each other, this was fixed in Deluxe Paint IV.
So because of this, was there a big difference in the pixel art being produced after deluxe paint IV was released? Was there a big difference in pixel art between Deluxe Paint II and Deluxe Paint III or did people use different tools? Thanks |

Deluxe Paint IV was MY weapon of choice when was doing pixel art for Powder, and what really did improve things was the introduction of the Lighttable, first seen in Disney Animation Studio, it does provide an onion skin feature that help in doing animations.
I did produce at least two animation shorts using DPaint like that and one won or placed in several contests! |

Although I am extremely fond of DpaintIV as well, I believe Brillance 2 is the best pixel art and animation program ever released.

Good pixel artists worked with what they had and produced quality because of their talent, regardless of the tool. Look at the quality of Dan Malone's work in Speedball 2, for example.

Well the same applies, if you believe the artwork improved drastically because of the features added to Deluxe Paint V.. That is also true |

@redblade
Actually was a bit picky, mostly stuck to Deluxe Paint and TrueBrilliance to try do stuff in real color; in example i did never liked curve tools on other packages like the bezel one in ppaint |
