Serial port to character device file? [Solved]

Is it possible to have serial port emulation in a way the the amiga serial port is linked to a tty on the host OS? For example so that I can run a getty on a /dev/tty.uae and use NComm, VTLjr or Term on Amiga to connect and get login on host OS there?

Something like Telnet or Slirp ??

I have only used it together with PTYs created by socat. If it works, it works by using the serial_port option in FS-UAE and point this to your PTY/TTY (full path).

(but note that the option name is serial_port, not serial_name).

Perfect - exactly what I was looking for! I am used to using socat for this stuff, I just missed the bits about serial_port, will test ASAP

Just want to let you guys know I managed to get it up in a way so that I can use Term etc within FS-UAE to get a shell on the host OS - great when I want to run the emulation full screen, using AmigaOS as a desktop environment, and still want access to the underlying OS
