Played the OCS version installed on HD.
Don't know if it's due to the "pause mode" (while taking the screenshot) but WinUAE crashed just after my screenshot ?... (instead of showing the tournament board)
Fortunately I have it to prove my score

262 ->
Crans-sur-Sierre : 62
Valderrama : 200 (not played yet)

62 is a potential course best. I've hit 62 a few times over the last year, but I have played the game a fair amount.

Great score malko.

Thanks guys.
Yes, home advantage and a lot of practice
To be fair, I was also lucky as all of my shots were near perfection.
(did not manage to do the same with Valderrama course so far.. , so keep training )

Edit FIO : The game was crashing WinUAE every end of tournament. Solved by reinstalling the game.
Maybe something went wrong first time ??

Additional rule: you can skip holes. Each skipped hole gets you 10 points. Skip all 18 holes of a course and you'll get 20 extra points: 180+20=200.

I think the fun part will start when we have the score of the two courses combined.
That's at that moment that we'll be able to compare our scores; it's too early now with only one course.

65 : Crans-sur-Sierre
65: Valderrama

Tip : Never use the club that is automatically proposed. Check the distance to go and adapt it accordingly (as close as possible to the distance to be covered - A smidgen underneath, it's fine). Check the wind and also adjust the "offset".

Your 62 in Switzerland still stands. You can play each course individually.

Thus your total score is 127.

@John4p: Scoring a 2 on the 15th at Valderrama is top quality stuff. Neither malko nor I managed that, I even dropped a shot on this hole.

Thanks Lines. I get some lucky scores here and there but lack the consistency to compete with you two. It's a mystery to me how you are able to almost always hit the marker at the right spot. I can calculate what I should do but too often mistime my shots.

@malko: That's the cousin of Panther Steels and Sabretooth Silvers.

If it makes you feel better, last night I played again Valderrama (& did try the PGA Golf game).
The first 9 holes were OK (-3) but from the 10th, I missed almost everything (course clear with gusty wind - so the slightest mistake does not forgive ). I don't tell you how many times the ball turned around the hole without getting in (I accumulated the 'Bogeys'/double 'Bogeys'). For some reasons I double clicked the mouse (twice the ball in the water - and thus scored a 'Blow-up'). At least, stopped the game on the 17th hole when I missed my putt 3 times (again double clicking ) ...
So, that was a "no" day .

Just to know, did some of you manage to score a 'Whaup' ? I didn't.

Yes, that's nice to hear. I also played Valderrama last night. After about 20 restarts I didn't get anywhere and quit.

There are a number of ways of improving your game in general. One thing to note is that if you hook or slice a shot, the effect on your shot is not linear to the power, it is exaggerated at the upper end of the power scale. Thus when calculating your shot, stop looking at the distance to hole as your be all and end all, it's much better to consider a cone from you to the hole, with the centre of the outer radius of that cone being the hole and you being the point of the cone. Obviously then factor in wind and adjust. Anything over about 17 wind should be considered to have a decent effect on your shot.

Falling short of a hole tends to be SO much better than falling long and the effects of hooking and slicing diminished. Besides, hitting the apron of the fairway (where the fairway/rough meets the nearest part of the putting green) BEFORE your ball lands on the putting green massively increases chances of your ball landing near the hole, as that bounce will take the speed and bounce out of everything. It is a fault of this game that you can't really 'nail' a shot to the green.

That's some advanced advice. Let's see if it helps me improve.
