Hi.

I used some tissue to get most of it off, then dip a nail brush into some soapy warm water. Shake the brush so it is not dripping wet, then with the keyboard positioned so water would not run into it and any circuits, brush the keys.
Every so often dip the brush back into the water to clean it.

Looking forward to your comments

For A1200/A600 I remove the metal backing from the keyboard and put it along with the membrane somewhere safe, this leaves you with the keys connected to the black plastic part, no need to remove the keys.

Note the blue membrane A600 keyboard is different and they keys will fall out!

Anyway, I clean the keys and the plastic part in the sink with soapy water, nothing but the finest quality fairy liquid for my Amiga's! I clean them with a soft washing up brush.

I then dry them out in the airing cupboard before rebuilding.

I swear I have RSI from all those little screws lol.

Don't you use clear lacquer to seal the retr0brighted areas so they don't go yellow again? Think this was an important factor when performing this process, starve oxygen from the surface so the yellowing doesn't return, plus using lacquer with a UV blocker would also help.

I didn't want to change the texture of the case myself but then I didn't keep the stuff I retr0brighted, I have bought brand new keyboards for my own Amiga's and bought stuff that was never yellow and keep if covered.

You can get matt lacquer but if you've sold the stuff then that's moot!

@Thread: Thanks for all your great suggestions I think I have a clearer view now of what has to be done...

Very probably, I will go for Steve's suggestion. Sounds like the method with the least effort - true "professional slacker" style Even if I am in severe danger of getting RSI

I don't like to use the lacquer either. I preffer to retr0bright the things again from time to time. I must get a couple of dust covers more, though...

If you think of the key being a mushroom shape (can't think if anything else) then if you use a nail brush and little water it will not get in. The water will not go up.

As long as the retrobite mix does not dry, it is quite easy to remove.

I like to use an spray wax for furnitures with everything (I mean plastics, car, motorbike, etc, etc). That is very easy to apply and to get inside, and will keep away the rust. I always use it after the retr0bright.

Edit: But I always use a hair dryer after the retr0bright and cleaning it all with water.

Not if you dry them properly, overnight in the airing cupboard is enough :-)

I bought this... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Re-Oxide-1...item540422d5d4

A 1 ltr bottle of cream peroxide... layed keys on a tray with turkey foil... painted the peroxide on the keys. Then covered in cling film to retain moisture under a 600 watt Sunbright gro Lamp, giving off tons of heat and light... but your lekky meter will spin at the speed of light. Gotta keep an eye on it though, too much time and parts will bloom. I heard it said that 18% is too powerful and needs diluting somewhat, not sure of what ratio was suggested. Like I said keep an eye on it, I found about 10 hours is sufficient watching at intervals. Take out a key and wash it, see if the yellow has gone, if not whack it back under there with a fresh coating.

I bought BBlonde and applied it (i.e. used a paint brush and I applied this directly). I used clingfoil on the part are where I applied BBlond. Moved the part in the sun and left it for half a day. I could not see any difference!! What am I doing wrong?

Sounds right. What did you try to treat? And was it clean when you started? If the item is yellowed due to nicotine, I'm not sure BBlonde will help much.
Edit: And which BBlonde product did you use? It needs to say Cream Peroxide on it like here: http://www.co-operativepharmacy.co.u...rge/117580.jpg.

I attached a photo of the BBlonde I have! Looks the same (cream) but mine is not liquid! Do I need to mix this with something?

This is fine, just use a brush to apply, cover the kit in cling film so it dont dry out and leave out all day.
