If it wasnt for reading about the swinging trick, I would not have got so far.

I also found it works much quicker if not holding down the fire button, and just stand on the platform, but this is harder to master.

I missed 33 symbols, 16 of those are because I cant seem to make the first jump on 1.2, so I'm missing 17 somewhere.

^ I know of a secret area where you get 5 symbols which you probably haven't found yet. 17-5 = 12. The remaining 12 symbols I haven't found myself yet.

Btw., I always restart the game when I miss the jump in level 1.2.

11 symbols less than last time (23 less than Harry). Don't know which ones I've missed.
Went on to beat the boss with 14 lives left. First time to ever finish this game.

Again 10 symbols less than when I played on sunday. No idea where I found them then.
I've counted the symbols by level now (1.1 & 1.2 incl. spider caves):

1.1: 100, 1.2: 70, 1.3: 50
2.1: 25, 2.2: 28, 2.3: 21
lava before secret cave: 14
secret cave: 104
lava after the cave: 9
Airship: 30

(451 total)

@Harry: Can you (or someone else) give me a hint in which level(s) the remaining 22 symbols are?

Nevermind, currently doing an exploration run with lot of leaps of faith. Found Harry's 12 symbols in level 2-2 and the 10 symbols from sunday in level 2-3. Also another extra life and two more weapon upgrades (I think there are six weapon upgrades in total).

Missed a symbol, but had one more life than Harry in the end.

Thanks John. I think some of the symbols I missed are at 30:49. I feel your pain at 20:35, as that is a very annoying part. I often leave the top flying creature alive and use the sword to bounce off it onto the ledge.

Those were "Harry's" 12 symbols.

That's probably how you're supposed to do it. Will try this next time.

463 out of 473 symbols...very nice!

About AGA: no, this is a pure OCS title. But due to EHB and copper there are often more than 32 colors on screen.

The game has 677 colours on screen according to one post I saw. How is this possible? Perhaps the background is 64 colours, the swamp is 64, the copper sky is at least 256 colours, the main character is perhaps 32, and the enemies another 32, with 32 for the foregrounds. But thats still only 418 colours.

If these tricks were used on and AGA version, the copper would have hundreds of colours on its own, so the game would have thousands.

Dont forget, Links and a few other games use HAM mode, so its maybe 4096 colours on an A500.

Over 400 colors is already incredible, didn't know the Amiga 500 was capable to do this with scrolling games.

Basically had a score of 627 in the bag but then I botched and died twice on the last steps in the tower.

Had some trouble getting this game to work correctly. This is as far as I can get before the game exits with an access fault on WHDLoad. I tried the Nocache tooltype but no dice. Bit late for me to dig any deeper to find the problem. Can't say I massively enjoyed the first section of the game though.
