Ordered one to replace my broken Amiga 500+ which I haven't been able to repair. Looking forward to nights of inhaling solder fumes.

WOW.

This was the most amazing thing I'd ever seen and I wanted to rush and buy some but then I saw they came as barebones kits.

I'd honestly sell my PC to buy a few of these pre-assembled.

How amazing would it be to have one of these and a new case/keycaps...... (if a1200.net ever make them)

Seriously, someone needs to sell these motherboards minus the socketed Amiga chips, I have a few spare A500 boards with chips in them. I'd walk on glass to get at least one of these.

Great work to Scrat and Matze!

Have you had any luck in getting the files? would I need to buy the parts from a1k for you to build them or are you talking about manufacturing your own PCB's?

I'd love for a couple of these but I don't have the soldering expertise. I'd definitely be willing to pay hansomly for pre-assembled board(s) with empty DIP sockets (or even completed but I'm guessing old Amiga chips and memory are main barrier to production).

Why would you want to have a prefab board? The entire point in this project is the fun to be had in building these.

The trouble I've had with buying old second hand classic Amiga's is that they often have some kind of fault. I recently bought a pristine unopened A600 and got it recapped but the IDE is permanently damaged due to the old capacitors. The Rev8 A500 is cursed with leaking battery so it's even harder to come by intact, which I'm guessing is why this was made.

There'd be loads of demand in prefabbed motherboards like these if they ever became available (for all classic models), even if they just had empty sockets and you had to source chips yourself. I'd wager that the market is far bigger for people who can't solder than for those who can but I understand it's a mammoth task for any seller to build these in bulk without automated machinery.

From what I've noticed in the Amiga community there's demand for all sorts of things but supply dictates that you generally have to take whatever you can get. If I could solder and had the equipment I'd buy this in a heart beat, that's not the case so the best I can hope for is for some kind soul who is skilled enough to do it for me, for a fee of course. If not I'll just have to miss out.

If i did get permission to get some boards made i would investigate getting some of the components like resistors, filters and caps put on. Have to see what Matze and Scrat say,.

Even if you don't have the skills to assemble something like that yourself, you might still like to have something new and shiny that you can show off and enjoy looking at. Perhaps you can also rely on it a bit more than 25 year old boards (although most of the ICs will still be old). I am looking forward to building mine but also to using it afterwards and hopefully together with a V500+.

Thing is, you can't show off a motherboard.

You should do just more in hardware, or we have to come together.
eab = software
a1k = hardware

And we are already talking english and offering an international area.

Lets get a transparent A500 case made so you can see the new motherboard!

@tjLazer Good idea. A500 cases are getting pretty fragile.

A new motherboard ready to use and new cases would be nice. Also some fast accelerator with hd support and ram (4mb+) for the A500 with a normal price (about 150€) to become a gaming station with whdload and possibly some emulators.

Well, now you got two out of three. This board and the ACA500plus which will be launched any day now. I don't find it impossible that new cases might be made some day as well.

Jens is still supposed to come with his Amiga Reloaded, which is A1200 based.
