BEWARE MTEC MEGABODY on EBAY !!

Hi guys,

Maybe some of you have seen 10 days ago the MTEC MEGABODY on eBay . It was described of working without any problem by the seller "classics-for-sale"

http://cgi.ebay.fr/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?...#ht_666wt_1141

I bought it 146€ for my CDTV (outch!) and it was damaged and not working !

You can see it on the eBayer picture, the PIN32 of the socket is no here.
Result --> black screen.

http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1566495/Amig...0478459506.jpg

Of course if I would have noticed it on the pictures I wouldn't have purchased it.
Now I'm trying with paypal to get refunded, but I want to warn you because if I send back the item, it can be listed again on ebay...

So watch out !

PS: I hope the seller is not on this board . because it's a shame !!!!!!!

I think he is on this board, if it who I think he is then he is a really good guy I am sure if there is a problem he will try to help. Have you been in contact? Maybe the item became damaged whilst in storage without him knowing.

He is 'Jon Hare' on here, the same name as he uses on Amibay. Looking at his post count on here, you may get more joy contacting him via Amibay.

With care, that card is probably repairable though. Maplin in the UK sell turned pin strip exactly like that used on that card, so it could be carefully desoldered and replaced.

Yep, Jon Hare seems like a decent person to me and i'm sure he will sort the problem out... It's very unfortunate and i'm sure it's a genuine mistake on his part. Maybe he will repair it or relist it as faulty?

It's a real shame as it's a nice piece of hardware too

@Fitzsteve, I don't know what happened but it seems the board has been damaged when the 68000 has been removed.

The pictures are not mine, they have been shot by him and he put them on ebay...the metal pin of the socket is missing and a large part of plastic too.

I don't know how you can break it without noticing...

Well let's see...

@ gibs

Just an observation; if this deal was done on eBay and not on EAB, why aren't you dealing with the issue via a complaint on eBay / Paypal?

I agree with Merlin

This is not an EAB issue, and should be dealt with privately between yourselves and/or through ebay or Paypal.

Please refrain from continuing this discussion openly on EAB thank you.

Dear Moderator,

Have you read my message ?

It's not about complaining on eab, I have already started a paypal dispute.
It's about warning the members here, if the item is listed again on ebay !

Maybe 150€ is nothing for you, but when you purchase something and it's broken you are disapointed...

If you think this is useless to warn the eab members, then delete this thread but you must know that I will never wish you to buy a such thing !

Edit : As far as I know, I haven't been rude, and I'm telling no lies, the ebay add is still here, and you can watch the pictures.
That's my story.

I think that's DH problem right now. As long as the item isn't relisted and you don't have an answer how this could be resolved from Jon Hare, I think it's best just to keep this as it is right now. Wait how the deal is settled and then tell how it went afterwards.

Thanks for this

@gibs:

You've contacted me yesterday at 19.26 CET. That's 24 hours ago. In that time you wrote the first mail, opened a dispute. Uncommon, but no problem for me. So far... But to post here in that manner only 2 hours after you contacted me for the first time is not acceptable, sorry.

I'm not an Ebay Junkie who is all day on that side. I simply had no chance to answer your first (and only) mail on Ebay in that time, what is not that uncommon.

Anyway...seems like you're one of those "I save the world from ruin" guys without the slightest qualm...unfortunately.

The others are right btw...I'm a good guy, and I'll never sell an item as working if I know it doesn't. The item was tested and removed (working) from a CDTV some months ago...I've made pics...and it went to all the other stuff I own. I can't say where it was damaged...I simply didn't saw the fault on the board, that's all. And to test it again wasn't necessary, as it was "stored" as working after it was tested.

So, no question that I'll refund you. But I dislike your behaviour in that transaction, so don't expect me to refund your money before I have the item back. Send it, and I'll refund you

In the meantime I try to find someone who would be able to fix that (probably) as I'm not HEHEHE.

If you have any questions, gibs, contact me via Ebay. I'll do it too now (Copy/Paste of this post)

@mods: Thread can be closed. Thanks for all
