Question regarding retro machines/PCs

Hi there,

Im just looking for some feedback around the idea of an C64/Amiga with a PC built in. The difference being that both sets of hardware will be present and can be switched between.

Is this a good idea?

Any feedback on it?

Thanks

It wouldn't extend the exterior of the machine, would be purely internal.. But would include more modern features (wireless, 3d graphics, etc)

So you're thinking of putting a PC motherboard inside an Amiga or C64 case? You wouldn't be the first. I've seen a couple of threads on this board desribing just that. Unfortunately I cant seem to locate them at the moment.

Depends. Practical value - none. To show off at a convention - brilliant.

Kind of, but leaving the existing internals intact and being able to switch between the use of the two.

You used to be able to buy these cases from Amiga company Siamese Systems called the 3-pack and the 8-pack. They were cases which took 3 (and 8) motherboards at the same time. Each motherboard sat in a removable tray. They had trays for ATX, A4000D and other classic motherboards.

They never sold very many and eventually went bankrupt.

Well, if you can get everything to fit in there then go for it.

Oh, I thought it was fitting a PC & classic in a PC case.

Is it really worth risking a PC and an Amiga (both of which operate hot) inside an already poorly ventilated classic Amiga case?

Buy a bigger desk?

I just googled for "dual computer desk" and "twin computer desk" there are 10's of different ones. That particular one is a "Nygard Dual Computer Desk"
