What is the exact filename of this .adf, and where did you download it from?

Chances are it's a TOSEC file, and a lot of those tend to be broken or glitchy.

...not much information to go on Flip.

You should always mention the configuration used and the disks

Anyway, try this set with a "A500 - 1.3 ROM, ECS Agnus, 512KB Chip + 512KB Slow RAM" configuration:

... Red Baron v1.0 (1992)(Dynamix)(Disk 1 of 3)[cr NMS].adf
... Red Baron v1.0 (1992)(Dynamix)(Disk 2 of 3)[a].adf
... Red Baron v1.0 (1992)(Dynamix)(Disk 3 of 3)[a].adf

Oh yeah, and I moved this thread out of the support.WinUAE section to this support.Games section.

As mentioned, works fine here, I just tested again

Only difference I can see in your configuration file screenshots is that you don't have "Cycle-exact (full ticked)"... you should virtually always use this for any A500 games

These are the disks to be used and their respective CRC:
  • Red Baron v1.0 (1992)(Dynamix)(Disk 1 of 3)[cr NMS].adf [CRC: FAD6F7C7]
  • Red Baron v1.0 (1992)(Dynamix)(Disk 2 of 3)[a].adf [CRC: 6ADEF252]
  • Red Baron v1.0 (1992)(Dynamix)(Disk 3 of 3)[a].adf [CRC: FA3D5DD9]
You don't possibly have "Disk 1" write protected or still inside the .ZIP file do you (as this gets written to)?

You can even have 3 x disk drives enabled with the disk inserted for no disk swapping

Yup, it's exactly the above...

I write protected all disks and get the same error that you do:

Always extract files from archives and afterwards make sure that they are not "read-only"... as you never know if / when a game needs to be written to

Red Baron works well both from Floppy and HD, you just have to wait until the floppy is completely read, when the floppy 2 or 3 is requested, it is necessary to wait a little bit of time (on WinUAE), on a real Amiga you have to wait for the floppy light to go out

...that's not the issue here Carlo; please read the thread carefully.

Plus with WinUAE you can have all 3 disks inserted so no disk swapping / waiting required.

Since is the first time that i play this game in WinUAE the fps are really low, very slow and hard to play, the game is really like that or can i improve speed ? Because i've changed the ram at maximum and nothing changed...

Yes, Damiano and thanks for the clarification, i was based on the error in your screenshot, with 3 floppy inserted there is no problema, my advice can be useful for those who use only one floppy and those who use a real Amiga

Guess you could play with the "CPU Speed" slider to say 100+; or if that makes no difference then set "Fastest possible"...

Flip, have you tried the Quickstart A500 (most common) configuration? That, along with the other Amiga models listed there, are preset ideal configurations for WinUAE to get the most accurate emulation possible with each model, and it should work absolutely fine.

All I'm saying is you really don't need lots and lots of RAM and "fastest possible" settings for an A500 config. But you do need "cycle-exact", which is what the Quickstart config for A500 provides.

I really wish people would read the thread

Foebane; Flip is using a configuration that is equivalent to a "Quickstart A500 - 1.3 ROM, ECS Agnus, 512KB Chip + 512KB Slow RAM"...

The game works for him now that he has un-write protected the disks.

He's just saying that "the fps are really low, very slow and hard to play"; but that's how the game originally was...

...but as a suggestion to try to improve this, I mentioned that he could possibly change the "CPU Speed" slider or maybe by setting "Fastest possible".

This isn't something I would do personally though; I like to play games how they were intended back then, warts and all

I agree with that, also i like swapping disks once in a while ... except some games that needs to swap disks every single second like mortal kombat ...

"Fastest possible" works fine thanks DamienD. But t was kinda impossible for me playing it to be honest.

I'm learning here some useful tips while i'm using WinUAE.

Foebane, i use my personal save configuration, i don't change a lot the configs until it need it, but thanks you also for trying to help me here

Thanks everyone! I promisse if i come back here again i'll give more information about the problem (hope i don't need it).

Ah. Now I see.

I did read the thread, but I didn't bother to look up the game before and didn't know it was a Wings-style filled polygon 3D flight sim. Sorry.
