it's great that you guys are putting so much effort into preserving old rare game disks. i often think about old disks which are lying around in peoples lofts gathering dusts and vulnerable to bit rot and will soon be lost forever and it makes me sad.
i reckon there are some rare gems that wil be lost forever but thanks to you guys and others with the same dedication more and more games are being preserved all the time.
guess what i'm really saying is thanks for all your efforts

Yes. It is good that there is still a remnant who aren't afraid to get their hands soiled by floppies.

Everyone understands that some of these games can be a crap shoot to get a perfect copy. Not so sure about the Captain though. He might make you walk the plank.

Oh well. It was worth a shot I suppose. Please feel free to try and salvage something, but if you feel it really is a lost cause then just post the remains back to me.

Re the origin of the disk, I can't really shed much light on it unfortunately. I used to swap games with a friend of my uncle and he copied it for me and I just picked it up back in about 90/91. Where he got it I have no idea. It's a shame no one noticed my original post back in 2010 eh? (page 1). 5 years less deterioration might have made a difference. After no one replied I just assumed it was a common version and forgot about it.

True Oh well, at least I've managed to make some partially working dumps, maybe one day a good working copy will pop up and we'll be able to preserve it

Have you considered sending the dumps to the SPS team. Partially working or not they may be able to produce an IPF or RAW so that Dastardly can have a working copy.

I've got my fingers crossed that Denis can get the Kryoflux stream to boot.

I seem to have read somewhere that they only accept dumps made with the Kryoflux HW?
Denis will certainly know more on that - if they accept dumps made with KF Free, then I'll gladly send the RAWs over!

unfortunately guys, i've checked the stream, there are 34 tracks reported as BAD.

However, Jbenam 4th dump has only 10 bad tracks. however, getting infinite lives would be good, in order to play all the levels, and check is there is any part with corruption.....

If you have Action Replay put 2 nops @11ff4 for inf lives
A single nop @aa42 lets you bypass the password screen

The jbenam #4 dump plays good until it's time to begin world 4. After that:
Code:
     DISK REQUEST
    PLEASE PUT YOUR
    RAINBOW ISLANDS
PROGRAM DISK IN DRIVE 0
    AND PRESS SPACE
The disk spins a little and stops on track 41.
Savestate near end Zoned.

Hi,

I've not heard from Denis for a while so I assume it's a no go.

Send me your address and I'll return the disk.
