It works in WinUAE default 500 config, but I get an error 'type failed return code 20'. You can either type 'ssboot swos' to run the game or delete the line 'type readme' from the startup-sequence.

I'll assume you have WB1.3.
Load up WB1.3, open utilities, run notepad.
Insert the swos disk 1 into df0:
Right click on notepad at the top left hand corner of the border.
From the drop down menu choose open
In the Name: box type in DF0:s/startup-sequence
type an ; in front of type readme
From the drop down menu choose save

Could you not post a modified version of the disc image?

Sweet, thanks for your help. Will give this a shot when I get home! If this works I'm never giving up the ol' 500

Yeah the old 500 was great but I was never a fan of WB1.3.

I've only tried the ssboot swos in UAE, and that worked like a charm... BUT when I call out the manager while playing a game the sound goes all wonky on me again, eg like in 95/96 and Euro edition... Could that be "hardware" related?

I have a vague memory from the time that if you have less than 2MB (like the A1200 - I think you have 1MB) then there may be fewer sounds in SWOS. But it's a bit crap if there is actually a bug with the sound in the way that you describe.

when i add like 2mb of mem it goes away... So now I'm guessing I'll have to spring out for more mem for my 500, does this do the trick?

Got an A1200 now with Blizzard 1220/4, and the game works like a charm! Happy times

Thanks for all the input and help!

Does anyone know for sure if this is the case?
People here seem to be pretty cool about bumping threads here, so I just wanted to give credit where credit is due and thank you for your idea about the kickstart 2.04. It solved the problem I had with running 96/97!!!! All the other SWOS games worked with the 1.3, but this one wouldn't. I just swapped kick roms and it now runs perfectly with the 2.04. BTW, I am running this on the GP32X. Thanks, H.G.

I have a working version without sound issue on my a1200 if my memory is good.
I had problems with this one too until one day i found these adfs.
I don't remember if there are in the eab file server but i would say no (not sure, i have to check this i don't remember).
