Hmmm, all the screenshots from the various systems posted so far are nowhere near as good as the ones originally posted by DDNI...
The only system that we don't have screenshots for is the Apple IIgs. I'm not saying they are definitely from the Apple IIgs though, I don't even know what that computer is capable of... Maybe Belgarath is correct Quote:

I didn't play them as I wanted to complete the Amiga version first.

From all these screenshots, it's even more tempting to assume that someone at Cinemaware seriously disliked the Amiga version. Quote from the aforementioned www.thehouseofgames.net:
" This version looks so INCREDIBLY UTTERLY bad that I rechecked a couple of times that this actually came from an actual company and not some fan who made it at home. It's not like the others at all and you should check out this version just to see how bad it really is. " I'll never cease to be amazed at the fact that so many people still throw dirt at the Amiga version. The gfx are great, the sound design and music are great and it plays great as well. From all of Cinemaware's titles, this the one closest to It Came From the Desert in terms of depth, design, atmosphere and overall quality. Bad graphics? Please...it was 1987 !! |

Sorry wanderer, I have to disagree with you...
As said from the beginning, even though C64 version is not as good graphically as the Amiga version (not far off though, LOL) it's far superior in terms of extra gameplay etc. If the Atari ST or Apple IIgs versions have the same gameplay as the C64 version yet are better graphics then they will kick the Amiga version's butt... It's a real shame though. I love the Amiga, just wish they made this game better than what it was / is. There was so much wasted potential BTW I love "It Came From The Desert" on the Amiga |

Haven't played other versions (yet) but still, they strike me as completely different games, which makes it hard for me to compare them as 'versions'.

In fact I do love all Amiga Cinemaware games, especially:
... Defender of the Crown 1 / 2 ... It Came From The Desert 1 / 2 ... Lords of the Rising Sun ... Rocket Ranger ... Three Stoogers ... TV Sports Basketball / Football ... Wings Edit: notice I left Sinbad and the Thrown of the Falcon off the "top" list. There's a reason for that Sorry, I'll stop hassling you now. No offence my friend. It's not your fault that you played the Amiga version first and that's your guideline Last edited by DamienD; 27 April 2006 at 00:12. |

I loved defender of the crown and Wings but defender of the crown i first played on a c64 and then Atari ST i didn't really like the Amiga version because at the time i only had built in disk drive and it used to keep asking for the 2nd disk which i hated, any game that pops up with generic workbench style insert 2nd disk looks ugly and spoils the game!
However Wings was AWESOME i can still hum those tunes in my head to this day and whoops the accidental shot at my wing man wasn't meant to hurt him just stop him shooting down all my targets I also had rocket ranger on the Atari ST liked the concept just couldnt get into the game same goes for Tvsports football i had 4th and inches on the c64 and could execute a few of the moves like shotgun etc but the rest was a complete fucking mystery! I loved the concept of Lord of the rising sun but it was a stratergy game and too deep for me at the time i liked mostly arcade games thats why i got the Amiga I tried the remakes of Defender of the crown on PC and Xbox and could not get into either i also tried the full remake on the pc too not the downloadable remake of the original the thing that spoilt it for me was when you where invading a castle you had your cattapult and on the c64/st versions u had markers on the catapult where to fire to knock down the wall and then fire in your greek fire/poison shots etc but they aren't present on any of the remakes so you just have to take pot luck also the jousting is harder too as is the sword fighting! All in all spoilt remakes all round! and as for Click Team that was a farce from start to finish as pointed out in other threads on EAB a case of worker exploitation, being paid or not paid on the cheap and no final product that was any good anyway! Just to tie in with this actuall forum subject i never saw sinbad tho a m8 did have it @DamienD i had to actually write all this off line because of the modem prob you know about |
