Amberstar Cheat

I notice that the Amberstar Cheat is not in HOL:

In the game, switch to the inventory screen.

Type "tempus fugit" (excluding quotes, including space)

Pressing the HELP key (pg dn in WinUAE) brings up the debug menu

Pressing the 'd' key brings up the Amberstar Music Test

...still not in HOL.

I've already given up hope that:
1) RCK will ever implement a direct editing feature
2) Codetapper (or whoever can edit them) will catch up with it

There are quite a few people that actively work on HOL, but those can't edit cheats

Well, it can be considered as a hidden way to access a technical feature, so I guess it is worth a note in the entry.

At least until it gets considered as a cheat.


PS: Can anyone double check the whole post by alexh?
I trust him, especially on Thalion games, but I think it is better if we double check each time.
I'll try tonight if I have time.

As I said earlier it is not an issue of trusting you or not .

Rather:
1) if we (HOL supercontributors) want to be granted the right to be able to edit the cheat parts of HOL, we'd better have a good protocol in place (double check).

2) anyone can make mistakes, forget something, etc...

3) I know first hand that some cases can be complex. For instance, Settlers II has two different words, depending on the revision, that can activate the cheat mode:

Back in the days, I had one magazine that mentionned one of them. And obviously I had the revision for the other word.
I tried several times to make it work.... Some time later I saw another magazine stating that there were 2 differents words.




Back to Amberstar, I have double checked with the SPS versions:

- With Amberstar v1.96 (1992)(Thalion)[FD-HD][1969] (English version) everything works as you detailed.

Could you tell me if you also get part of the text in yellow? I tried with an A1200-like configuration:


- With Amberstar v1.73 (1992)(Thalion)(DE)[FD-HD][2655] (German version) however, I did not succeed in getting to the Help Screen. I took a look at the German keyboard layout and nothing should bring any difference.
So I guess there is a chance that there is either another cheat code for this version or that there is no help menu.

I will put adfs of the German version in the Zone! just after this post, in case anyone wants to try to get the cheat code to work with it.

Anyone got more info about the difference between 1.73 and 1.96 (see my previous post)?
