Weird graphics issue in virtual karting 2
I'm not sure if this is a games or hardware issue so if admin/mods want to move this thread feel free.
I was working through some WHDLoad games last night and thought I'd have a go at Virtual Kart Racing 2. Fast paced karting action, good fun game. Anyway, all was well until I got into game and the graphics went very fussy (not that unusual) but lost nearly all detail and the colours were mixed up. See below photos. I'm using the amiga through a gonbes 8200 to an LCD monitor until such time as I can afford an indivision. Is this a fault of the gonbes, a fault of the amiga or just a bad game? All other games are fine, including other 3D games. |

I think I may have solved my own problem
copied from http://hol.abime.net/ [4] According to the manual, playing the game on a composite-video monitor or TV will provide a better graphical display and feel for playing the game than a RGB monitor (presumably due to the black gauze dithering technique employed to achieve 25fps on a standard A1200). |

YEs, it's meant to look that way, some weird fucking display that game uses.
Who in the hell wants to play with composite? |

If you look at the bottom of this page Similar Threads or search theres a lot of instances of this, I dont think anyone quite knows because on my real Amiga its only certain tracks and VK on the CD32 compilation works fine in WinUae for me ???

As already noted, it's supposed to look that way.
I still remember the guy who coded this, or at least the first game, Fabio Barz-<something italian sounding>. He was claiming he figured out some super-duper 2x2 C2P (2 pixels rendered, 2 empty) and there was a lot of discussion about it back in the day, some 20 years ago, in comp.sys.amiga.*. |

It was programmed with CRT screens in mind so will look a lot worse on modern LCD screens unfortunately.
