Emulator question ...

I've been following a couple of links found when reading this Amiga Board and found a couple of "Sensible Soccer" ADFs.

Does that mean Sensi runs on an emulator ???????

Does Sensi run (although indirectly) on a PC ????

Has anybody tried ???

Yes, it works fine, and yes you can use a PC Joystick.

Use WinFellow or WinUAE as the actual emulator, and make sure you READ THE DOCS if you have any trouble.

I'd suggest Win Fellow if you are a new user.

The game plays well, and yes you can use joysticks (though I'm not sure about using 2)- enjoy.

I agree with the comments about PC Joysticks being poor ... do you stil get digital joysticks for the PC ? Or are they all analogue ?

I'm having a darn hard time getting used to joypads. I tried using one for playing X-men vs. Street fighter on MAME today. The gamepad made it completely impossible for me to play right. Had it been a single or dual button thing it'd have been easier, but I still can't really go one specific direction. I usually end up going diagonally.

New joypad designs look pretty, some claim to be ergonomic as well but most of them are hard to control. Nothing is better than Master System's gamepad yet.

I think you really, really need to test a pad before you buy it. There's so mant joypads out there now with the quirky 'angled' offset, or those that read aren't designed for the d, dl, l actions involved in SF2.

I chose the Sidewinder because the angle of the pad compensated for the nasty angle that I hold joypads at, and there's enough buttons to keep anyone happy. Just make sure you test it, or at least hold it and see how it feels before you buy it. There's no caveat emptor where shop front hardware is concerned.

Only downside is it's Macro$hite, but I can be safe in the knowledge that some other poor company were contracted to build it and stick the M$ logo on it.

This came up in a thread before, but I am still happy with my Saitek Gamepad X6-32M. It's also like the Ps-one, but the directions are microswitches.

It also feels excellent - being made of some kind of rubber/plastic compound.

I now have an Amiga running on my laptop

And also on my work PC, though I reckon NT with dual processors and an ELSA 3d card are not what sensi is expecting to find

The only thing is .... my fuzzy memory !!!

I probably had my Amiga on every day and (Apart from the odd marathon sesh of Sensi) dabbled with it seriously for 3D work. Just search under Aminet for "mckie". Used Imagine and T3D.

Trying to remeber how to make a Floppy bootable took a bit of coaxing ...

I've actually been keeping an eye on e-bay now. Thanks for pointing it out to me.

I just bought a 2nd hand CD32 on e-bay last week.

Mine was failing to spin up. I barely use it - just the odd game of Sensi with a couple of mates.

But I did originally manage to buy it with the FMV option and it would have been a shame to through it all out.

Looking at my old CD32 with FMV and my new PS2 I can't see any difference. Apart from the march of technology and Marketing.

Both play games, CDs and movies.

Shame Commodore couldn't actually make it all work

Also bought 15 Pythons from a store in Germany

And been busy having a laugh with the Amiga emualtors WinUAE and WInFellow.

(Does anyone know how to copy files from my amiga to a PC zip disk and retain the long filenames - instead of the old 8.3 format ? I don't have the latest version of CrossDos and nobody seems to make it any more. I'd like to run my Amiga setup on a new PC.)
