Convert Sonix instr to adf for WinUAE

I've downloaded a bunch of .instr and .ss files and want to use them in Sonix (WinUAE). Is there any way to convert these files to an adf file? Thanks again.

You can download ADF View http://www.viksoe.dk/code/adfview.htm , make empty ADF with that program or WinUAE (floppy drives -> create standard disk), open that empty ADF with ADF View and copy+paste your .instr and .ss files.

It is much easier to mount PC directory as a Amiga harddrive. Sonix should be able to handle harddrives.

Files into adf for Sonix

I have created "floppy disk" adfs with WinUAE and downloaded IFF, instr and smus files. I dropped these files into my new adfs and assigned them to df1:. Sonix recognized the adf (though it called it 'Empty') but could not find the files I had dropped into them. What am I doing wrong? Thanks.

How did you copy the files to your adfs? Did you use ADFView?

Do the files show up in WinUAE if you list the directory of DF1: from the CLI (Shell)?

Hm, there should be an option in Sonix to point to which directories to use for Instruments and Songs. Have you looked?

Else I think this works as standard procedure for working with Sonix:

Go to where you want your working dir to be (cd DF1: in your case weemus)
Put the .instr files in a folder called Instruments (makedir Instruments, copy #?.instr Instruments, copy #?.ss Instruments)
Put the .smus files in a folder called Songs (makedir Songs, copy #?.smus Songs)
Start Sonix without changing directory (for example DF0:Sonix)

If these two do not work, look for assigns in the startup-sequence on the Sonix disk, and change them to point to the right place. Maybe you can see where it wants to read them from when you choose to open a song or instrument in Sonix.

If all fails then you have to make a copy of the Sonix disk, and replace the .instr and .smus files with the new ones. (I.e. make a 'workdisk'.) That will definitely work.

A quick correction to photon's post .ss files are not songs but Samples and should also be in the Instruments directory. Sonic songs have the smus extension.
