Need to zip up my Amiga files...

I finally figured out how to transfer my files from my real Amiga 1200 to my PC.

But this one file at a time business is getting old real fast.

I know the Amiga uses lha as a compression/archiving format.

I don't have any lha tools (or other compression) actually on the Amiga.

Could someone point me in the right direction on what to download and how to zip up entire folders on my Amiga? Been a REALLY long time since I was proficient on that platform. :-)

Thanks!

If you don't have lha then you probably won't have zip and unzip on there either.

You can get this stuff from aminet:
http://aminet.net/package/util/arc/lha
http://aminet.net/package/util/arc/Zip
http://aminet.net/package/util/arc/UnZip

How are you transferring the files? You could use the command line for this or write a script to batch send files.

Also, the above tools will require some knowledge of the command line, unless you find a front end tool for it.

If you're not comfortable with the CLI or can't find a good front end tool then you can use directory opus. Once that is set up along with the lha and zip tools, you can compress files from there.

Beware of zip. It has the tendency to lose amiga specific file attributes.

lha recursive is the way. 7-zip and all other windows unarchivers support it, at least for reading.
