Shadow of the beast
Hello
in a french forum, a post is about the number of colors displayed in the game "shadow of the beast 1" there is a dissension between posters so, compared to the copperlist how much colors on the screen ? thanx |

in the copperlist, there are 236 color registers used (from level 1) in some mag preview : "128 colors" on the screen, what number of colors displayed ? |

why not screen grab it and use software to count the pixels for you and there by telling you the number of colours

There are two trains of thought with regards Amiga games.
Shadow of the Beast is 'PHYSICALLY' only 32 colours with regards to bitmap colours, but with extensive copper colour reloading is way in excess of that. Jim Power is a better example, I think if memory serves me right, it is 'physically' only a dual playfield game and from a bitmap perspective has only 16 colours (8 per playfield), but that too has extensive copper colour reloading that makes it a lot more. |

it's exactly what I answer in the french forum (euh... exept "physically" :hoo , a mistake. result : Fight ) there are 237 copper colour reloaded in the coplist |

Using PPP, it counts 96 in image 1, 88 in 2 and 87 in 3 (before I manipulated them) 128 max onscreen reported by the mag sounds about right. Last edited by Bloodwych; 23 January 2004 at 17:32. |
