Quarterback was a hard drive backup to floppies Chip, I very much doubt anything could be done on a PC?

Part 07 in the zone

This one has quite a few Quarterback images.

where there is some duplication of Quarterback numbering, for instance there are three completely separate QB18 disks, they are named

QB18.ADF
QB18.1.ADF
QB18.2.ADF

Done in a bid to separate them so no-one thinks i've duped all the same disks.

for those that don't know, the first longword on track 0 (i.e. what would have ordinarily been the bootblock) has the naming convention of QBxx, the xx refers to disk number, and obviously Quarterback keeps requesting disks to image onto until all the data is done.

There is 40 or so images in this archive, managed to get them to compress enough to not exceed the 20mb limit in the zone.

Loads more tomorrow, don't be dissapointed if its another shit load of Quarterback disks, i'll try to image other stuff as well to keep it interesting.

you need quaterback 4.0 or 6.0. The only thing to keep in mind is that this tool is NOT compatible with anything else than OFS-FFS.

it corrupts SFS and PFS3 partitions.

Dlfrsilver volunteered on sorting the qb disks out, so once all disks are done, poor lad has some work ahead of him

All Quarterback Disks belong to ONE set of backup. Is it clear which disks belong to which set, or are all the disks mixed up?

Galahad wrote:

(Means 3x QB18, each from another set)

If mixed up, its gonna be a "try and error" to find out which disk belongs to which set. Can play around with it (QB displays a message if a disk is inserted which doesnt belong to the current set) but will take time and need to be sure that ALL available Quarterback disks are already ADF'ed...

(Also if a disk from a set is missing or corrupt, not a big deal - as QB just continues leaving a few files from that set out)

Unfortunately no idea on the order of disks, all three of those qb18 disks were from the same row in the box, so,im guessing trial and error, but Denis sounds confident he can do it, so im happy to let him get on with it once this entire batch is done.

You can use ADF-Workshop. The creation date can be used to separate sets :
Code:
File selected : Wonder Dog (1993)(Core)(Disk 1 of 2)[cr CLS][Quarterback archive].adf
File size : 901.120 bytes
CRC32 : $46A75EA4
File loaded as an ADF : Quarterback Backup Disk (Qb)

Bootblock specification:
 - Identification with AWP v1 engine : <Data> Quarterback Backup Type2 Disk #001 (Created on 1993.11.09 00:08)

File selected : Wonder Dog (1993)(Core)(Disk 2 of 2)[cr CLS][Quarterback archive].adf
File size : 901.120 bytes
CRC32 : $39437068
File loaded as an ADF : Quarterback Backup Disk (Qb)

Bootblock specification:
 - Identification with AWP v1 engine : <Data> Quarterback Backup Type2 Disk #002 (Created on 1993.11.09 00:08)

Yes adf workshop indicated the date, and the number of the set made. This allows to regroup a full disk set of Quarterback archive in order to access the whole content.

Ok, i will then rename those archives this will make it more evident to other people.

Just one note to people : DON'T and NEVER use Quarterback on Amiga with Hard drives installed with SFS and PFS3. OFS and FFS only when restoring.

I have trashed 2 years ago my hard drive content by restoring a QB archive on my A1200 which was SFS formated.

Ok, i have checked the files. I need the more and most possible amount of dump for these sets

They are not complete enough right now to be able to check the content.

I'll wait for Phil's next dump zip.
