Defender of the Crown II CD32

Hi!

Since the new Project32 (CD32 emulator) now supports DOTC2 , would it be possible for someone to upload an ISO image of Defender of the crown II CD32 ? Or is it already available at some odd site to download ?

I know where there is a HD version of DotC 2, but it's missing some stuff.

You could burn the files to a CD and use that, well at least until a full iso pops up

You can grab the CD Rip from the AEN FTP's, if it's still on there.

Won't work

The HD Version is hacked in a way that some action sequences (fencing, etc.) don't even show up... so you wouldnt be able to play them anyway... and the game would be just the same as if you played it from HD.

Wahey! RCK pulls another big surprise on us! He's no doubt got more tricks up his sleeves than David Blaine right now.

I didn't know you had an FTP, Retrodude! What's the login details? And is it gonna be an ISO ftp or something else?

That ftp is a NO PUBLIC ftp right now and if Twist will be so kind and upload that iso, it will ONLY feature that ISO for you all for download, no more no less, so don´t ask any further @Marz !!!

A request from a non-broadband user

Can all iso's be compressed using 7-zip, as even a 10 mb saving would save me 1 hour of downloading

Thank you kindly

Otherwise I'll have to buy a External CD burner and use the 2mb line we have at work (And probably get in trouble in the process)

I'm currently 7-zipping something I downloaded from Retroman at the minute, I'll post the saving if anyone's interested(In fact I'll post it even if your not)

Saving

Iso image size = 541 mb
Zip size = ~480 mb
7-Zip size = 401 mb

Almost 80 mb saving over normal zip's:eek that would save over 4 hours of downloading.

Ian, the compressed size is good, but there are many factors that go into how much can be compressed. The biggest is wether or not the data in the ISO is already compressed or not. I just compressed a 678MB ISO of a Linux distro with WinRAR at its best compression method, I only saved about 40MB! This is because most, if not all the data in the ISO is already compressed.

I'd have to say that there was a sizable chunk of the ISO you tried out that was not in any kind of compressed format.

Well, good luck to you, I understand your delima with on a dial-up connection

Your missing the point I think, which is 7-zip will compress files smaller than any other compression tool at present. If you tried 7-zipping your iso, it would be smaller than when you RAR'ed it.

All the CD32 iso's (Which we are talking about here) I have are smaller with 7-zip than they were with WinACE and Power Archiver. I also doubt any CD32 cd's contain any compressed files at all, most games didn't even use a 1/3 of the available space anyway so why would they compress the files?

Yes if the disk has compressed files on it already, you won't see much of a saving, but the 7-zipped file will be smaller than the RAR'ed one.

I tried it out last night and 7-zipped up my 17 bit CDTV disk (Its full of dms files) and got roughly the same compression as when I did it with WinRAR. The other major reason why I didnt like 7-zip is that you cant span a zip across multiple files. WinRAR is great for this.
