Interesting, looks like 3000 is too much for your CPU at the moment. This port really needs a faster core implementation to see the improvements I've made to the rendering code.

I've checked the latest version and I have the same graphic problems.
Attached you can see PC Calcio 3 with the old version and with these new versions during the boot and at the copy protection menu: Last edited by jurassicman; 04 August 2019 at 15:36. |

Another attempt in the Zone for testing, this version has an auto scaling CPU which seems to work well for WinUAE but no idea how it will work on real hardware.
The idea is that it just adjusts cycles in real-time to match what your CPU can handle. Last edited by NovaCoder; 15 November 2018 at 06:26. |

I tested the new version on my real A1200 with 1260... it is probably a bit faster but I can't be sure since the graphic problem persists.

Absolutely it must be a pain in the ass putting in all that work and not being able to test out fully. Great work though

Unfortunately my HD is giving me the old Workbench not validated crap again! I'll sort it out and try again.... Last edited by Reido; 19 November 2018 at 18:36. |

Not from me but someone else might do one
Update: I've now swapped to v0.70 which from my testing looks like the best one (still don't expect any miracles though!) Last edited by NovaCoder; 20 November 2018 at 09:48. |

The real facts are: * PCX most certainly supports protected mode. Otherwise DOS4GW and other extenders required for protected mode games (like DOOM), as well as Windows would not work - and they do. * PC-Task is slower in every single benchmark program. The CPU transcription (which converts x86 code blocks to 68K code blocks) yields a substantially faster emulator providing the code is frequently called. Of course you can have huge transcription buffers. * MODE13 (320x200 8 bit mode) is one where the screen mode can be deliberately selected, however, you can mode promote any of the screens to a Picasso96 compatible board. There is a video floating around comparing FUSION to Shapeshifter and PCX to PC-Task. It's pretty clear my emulations are faster. I spent some time with Gunnar a couple of years ago, working on specific Vampire core instructions that could possibly speed up PCX.. things like byte swapping as data is loaded or stored (the x86 and 68K CPUs access words/longwords backwards from each other). It turns out that the Vampire's caching is so good that specific instructions do not help at all. The byte swap instruction(s) are amortized into the CPU thread resulting in no difference in speed. |
