Just checked the card box. It's a M-Tec T1230/28 RTC@42MHz, and obviously identical with the DCE Viper 1230/28 RTC.

I have an Escom A1200 with KS 3.1 roms, rev 1D4 motherboard and a 40mhz E-Matrix 1230 card installed with 32mb of RAM... The PCMCIA port works fine

My other A1200 (C= model) had a rev 1D1 motherboard and a 50mhz Magnum 1230 MK-II installed also with 32mb of RAM... the PCMCIA port did not work with this combination and the Magnum board did not work in my Escom A1200 (one of the reasons why i bought the E-Matrix card from Amigakit.com).

I've just sold my last C= A1200 to a friend so now i'm down to just 1 x A1200 (Escom) and 1 x A500 for nostalgia

If you are planning on using it for just gaming/WHDLoad then there's not really any point in my opinion

looks like we've got some great info here. It good to see that the Team like to get thier teeth in about the nitty gritty

Just to recap: I need to update to OS 3.1, better off with a Type 2 preferably with CPU above 030, complete with Fast Ram, the higher the better, should be compatible with most software (future proof) and must not cause any conflict with PCMCIA.

Feel like I'm learning everyday.

Thanks Again for all your Input.

got to pop out for a bit, back later, and I'll see what the situation is on Amibay

Further to ZetrO's comments on pricing, looking back, this Amiga Format advert is sobering...

http://amr.abime.net/amr_popup_pictu...ilesize=469577

I had to chuckle, I used to look at those adverts in the day and dream on. How lucky we are now.

If you want something better than a 030 CPU with good compatibility then a 060 would be the best choice . I personally would not bother with a 040 CPU as the 060 outperforms it, runs cooler and has better compatibility.... It will cost you more than a kidney though

New or Used?

Do you get many companies supplying top end Cards or are all the Best Cards on the Used Market?

Have been going through the links from Zetr0's post, can only seem to find the 1 new card

Thanks It Definitely an Adventure

Just Thought I'd let you all know what I have bought

I bought for my A1200, a Blizzard MKIV 1230, From Amibay. The card has No FPU, which is something I'll need to look into for future purchase.

I also managed to get a 128Mb SIMM, Also from Amibay.

So hope these are Ok and that they arrive soon.

Like to Thank everyone for there impute which was a great help in making my decision.

Will keep you posted when arrives and up an runing.

Nice one DonAmiga, I'm sure you'll be very pleased with the Blizzard

I saw you are also looking for a stronger PSU, which is a very good Idea. I'm using one of Amigakits ATX-Amiga PSU's and its very good, one of those is about £25 but I got mine from a fellow Amibayer a bit cheaper so if one comes up great, if not Amigakit also sell them.

128mb will do you very proud indeed. Not a lot takes advantage of an FPU so there shouldn't be a rush to get one but it does complete the card I guess

Hope you enjoy your purchases.

Steve.

@DonAmiga

that blizzard card will serve you well indeed!

they are one of the best if not the best 030 card for the Amgia A1200.
