I use mine for games, but in an unusual situation:

I took an old Double Dragon arcade machine, ripped out the game board, hooked an A2000 to the monitor + joysticks + speakers, etc. and connected an A1200 to the A2000 using a null modem cable and video through a genlock in the A2000.

The A2000 loads and plays games from its hard drive using a joystick controlled menu. The A1200 plays MP3s (converted to IFF 8SVX) and AVI animations (converted to HAM ANIM5) while the games play.

Xenon2 looks great while playing the game with the 'real' Bomb the Bass sountrack with its 2 layer paralax graphics + the asteroid scene with the millenium falcon from 'The Empire Strikes Back' looping in the background. Deluxe Galaga is interesting as well (the black space background is replaced with various movie scenes). Giana Sisters plays with Aerosmiths 'Dude looks like a lady' as the background soundtrack

Actually It was more fun building and modifying the system than playing the games themselves.

The next step is to see if an old sit-down Afterburner cabinet can be converted to run Stunt Car Racer complete with working hydraulics

Nice one gary! I was thinking of doing exactly the same thing, any tips and tricks I should watch out for if I were to do this project myself.

btw, did the double dragon arcade machine work? If so, thats a bit of a shame to tear it apart like that ... played that games heaps in the good old days.

Double Dragon worked for awhile but eventually died. It was a crap game anyway, especially compared to the variety of Amiga games that could be played instead.

Hints on hooking up an Amiga to an arcade machine, the hardest part is finding on old working cabinet:
1. Make sure it is a low-res monitor (the Commando/DoubleDragon era)
2. Make sure the screen & joysticks work properly (especially the screen)
3. Try to get the pinouts of the cables inside for the monitor (to save you some time)
4. Try to get a cabinet with 2 joysticks (for 2 player games)

Apart from that it is VERY straight forward, no circuits necessary, just connect the wires:
Amiga monitor: Red, Green, Blue, Hsync, Vsync
Arcade mon: Red, Green, Blue, Sync (HSync + Vsync)

Joysticks + buttons are usually 4 directions and digital just like Amiga joysticks.

You'll want a small amplifier to connect the Amigas sound output to the speaker(s).

If you don't have a hard drive, replace the coinslot with the internal floppy drive, power on, insert disk (instead of coin) and off you go.

Battle Squadron was made for this

Speedball 2 goes down well at parties.
Deluxe Galaga is good for people who just want to play the good old straight forward shoot'em'up.

Tis easy to find the pinouts for a JAMMA rig... Just check sites like ArcadeAtHome for starters, and you are set.

I plan to build a cabinet next year, hopefully I'll make it modular enough to take most any machne into it (plus arcade boards of course

The cab(s) I've found cost $100(AUD) I guess thats around 45 pounds these days? The trick is to try and find one where the cabinet is in good condition but the game inside is utter crap. One of those I found was a really bad Rolling Thunder clone (called Ranger -something-). The people selling classic games like Galaga/Galaxians/Pacman usually ask for a lot more ($1000+). Try your local classifieds under 'amusement/arcade'

10% everything else – net surfing, doodling with PPaint, playing MP3s, using SWOSEd.

Virtually 0% trying to fix hardware/software 'issues'.
